I thought the most scandalous thing was when Kristy's friends smoked. I have no idea why I thought that was way worse than drinking mini wines at a concert, probably because they burned down a building and some guy ended up with 3rd degree burns.

I think smoking seems scandalous because so many of us were raised to believe that smoking was omg the worst thing ever. But the burning down part was definitely freaky, as was Kristy thinking she was going to be arrested and stuff.

I didn't read either of those when I was little little, probably around 12ish, so it didn't seem as scandalous then. I think the shock factor with the smoking story was that it was KRISTY.

Kristy didn't try smoking though, right? She just did some vandalizing?

No, Kristy herself didn't smoke.
There was also smoking in her book with Angelica.

Sorry, I meant that Kristy was caught up in the smoking storyline. Kristy, the moral back bone of the BSC.

Kristy was the moral backbone, yet she had the steamiest makeout session and the most scandalous incident in the whole of BSC. Something is amiss!

Hehe, so true! And Stacey of the questionable morals innocently dated some guys, had numerous crushes that came to nothing, and got offered wine. (I can't remember if she drank any?)

I always liked the softball books, except for Kristy At Bat. I played six seasons of softball, so I liked reading about it.

(I can't remember if she drank any?) No, she didn't....she said she couldn't because of her diabetes. I don't know whether that was legitimate or just an excuse, but her mom said the same thing to the security officers when she came to get Stacey at the concert.

It doesn't stop Bret Michaels, and he has the same kind of diabetes as Stacey.

Nor my ex step-mum. I think they just have to be aware of the sugar intake, and adjust their insulin levels accordingly.

I hate Mary Anne's Makeover and the whole Stacey/bad girls arc.
I like Abby, possibly because I only started reading the BSC in about 1996 and out of order so there wasn't the same "Dawn's gone, and suddenly, Abby!" thing. I don't really see her as being a lesbian, though. I see her as being cautious about relationships in general because she's scared that if she lets herself love someone she'll lose them (like her father).
I can't see Kristy and Abby becoming close. I can't really see Kristy's feelings towards Abby developing much further than grudging respect.
I can't stand Cary Retlin.

^ I really like Abby, too. I think she handles herself pretty well considering her situation...
My unpopular opinions: - Logan = not abusive... I don't really get this idea at all - he's thirteen in the books; let the guy grow up! He's just going through that macho stage some guys go through
- I really like Mallory and I think she'll turn out just fine, in spite of the fact that I agree that her parents are pretty much useless. I never had a problem with Mal, I thought she was a very real character.
- Abby and Kristy: I've never seen them as lesbians... they're just sporty girls ... I also don't see them getting close, I think Kristy needed someone like MA to give her balance, Abby - while I like her a lot - is not exactly what you would call level-headed and quiet
- I really like the FF series ... I thought they were real and I liked the way the girls were portrayed. The only thing I hated was the feud between S and C. But I loved MA's books, I thought she was very well-written for FF. I also can't stand CA. Not sure why...

I like the FF series as well and I hated the fight between Claudia and Stacey. I also like California Diaries.
I think another unpopular opinion is that I like Sharon. Sure she's forgetful, to say the least, and she took Dawn and Jeff across the country soon after the divorce, but I think that despite her flaws, she does what she thinks is best for her children.
