^I will be 81 in 2062. I better live long enough to have my own Rosie the robot maid, lol.

^Me, too. And their automatic food/cleaning, everything buttons. In 2062, I'll be 87! I think at those respective ages some creature comforts would be extra welcomed

^ I'll be 81 then, too. I don't want a robot maid, but a flying car would be pretty awesome. Since people aren't usually driving anymore by that age, I wouldn't mind having a robot pilot to go along with the car!

^Very true. Also, the car seemed to "know" where it needed to go either via a push of a button or voice command.

I love this book. One of my faves, it's a classic. I had just watched the Miss America Pageant on TV for the first time so I loved it. I love pageant stories.
Does anyone know how I can have an avatar of Dawn's picture on the cover of this one? I'm new here so I don't know anything about making/uploading avatars.

^ You go to your profile and click on "Modify Profile." There, you'll find the word "Avatar." There you'll be able to choose the Dawn avatar that you want.

I just Googled and apparently The Jetsons were supposed to be the family of 2062. Sorry about that. So, lol, perhaps within 52 years car will fly. Well, Tomorrowland at Disneyland was supposed to be 1985. And EPCOT was supposed to be a whole city under a dome. In 2062 I'll be 74... flying cars would be nice, but more than anything I'm hoping they've perfected teleportation.

if i live long enough to see 2062, i will be grateful to still be alive, much less driving any sort of car at all :] actually i would only be 73, so totally do-able, but still.

^That is true, too, Oldhickory. If I live to be 87, all I hope for is that I'll be reasonably healthy and have at least one person in my life either friend, relative, or hubby that truly loves/cares about me and vice versa.

What I took away from this book is that Dawn's a hypocrite. She made such a big deal about how she wouldn't leave her mother, but she did. True, she was married by that point, but I do remember her saying "never." I found that pretty interesting as well. Dawn made such a big deal about never leaving her mother and how dare Jeff be so selfish.....hmmmmm

Dawn made that comment when she was happy where she was. It's easy to say you'll never leave when things are going your way. I think Dawn really did struggle with the idea of leaving her mother regardless of how easy she made the moves look.

^ The thought HAD to have crossed her mind back then, even if Dawn really was happy with where she was.

Good point Sparklymouse. I actually think (the first move, anyway) Dawn did not make the decision to move lightly. I fo feel that before Jeff got the green light, at least a small part of her was bitter because she already recognized that she, too, missed living in CA. I wonder if she had been a little older and more mature whether she would have at least talked about this with her mom and/or dad.
