^Thanks!
I think it was really weird of Dawn to grumble about the new member ceremony in this book. It was very silly.

That fanfic is really funny! I really liked this book. I think it is one of my favorites of Dawn's. Claire and Margo are really funny. I never understood why Mrs. Pike gave the job to Dawn because she lived the closest and would never need a ride home...what about Mary Anne or Claudia? Mallory always rode her bike to Claudia's house, so couldn't they ride their bike to Mallory's? It never made a lot of sense to me.

^ Didn't Dawn live closer to the Pikes? Agree about it not being too far for Claudia and Mary Anne, though.

^Yeah, I think Dawn did live closer but the way Mrs. Pike said it was, "I wanted to offer to this job because you will never need a ride." or something like that...I don't remember Mrs. Pike ever giving Mallory a ride to Claudia's...also...Mallory walked a few times too. I dunno...I guess it was to cover the plot.

^ Agree it was for plot purposes, which is probably why I overlooked it. I do remember Mal always riding her bike or walking because they made kind of a big deal at the meeting when she had mono when she had to call her mom because she was so sick that she needed to be picked up. Mary Anne Spier, as for Dawn getting upset about the ceremony, I can see why she would be. It made her feel like she was less important than Mal and Jessi (or at least that's how it would have made me feel. I know I would have been jealous ;D)

^ I guess that's how we're different and I'm probably more like Dawn. Silly or not, I sometimes like having a big deal made over me. ;D

Haha, I loved it! So hilarious! ;D Just reread this one in e-book form. Mal and Jessi remind me of two old ladies with the way they were talking so negatively about the pageant and they're only 11 years old! Although I didn't understand why Sabrina Bouvier won the pageant when I read this for the very first time, I do now. They picked her because she really was a "Pageant head". The judges didn't care about smarts or anything like that; just how the contestants look. As sad as that was, it pretty much mirrored how people judge contestants in pageants. This was one of the best lines in the book for me, the part where the judge asks the contestants questions... Judge (to random kid): "What is the best part about Stoneybrook?" Dawn: Was that a trick question? Random kid: "Um, the ice cream shop," Dawn: The audience laughed gently. I knew the kid had blown it. ;D

My favourite line from this book has to be Claire's response to the question - What would you do to help change the world?
I'd help everyone to be friends and I'd give them all free French fries at McDonalds
Aw ;D

LOL, I love that fanfic! Too funny! Yes, Dawn lives within two blocks of the Pikes, I believe. I know this because Mrs. Pike has a rule about how the kids can't go any farther from two blocks from the house, and Nicky goes and hides in Dawn's secret passage, right on the outskirts of the two blocks, I think. I can see how Dawn would get jealous, even though it was childish. I tend to be a kind of .. hmm.. sensitive person, and I would probably construe something like that to mean that Kristy liked Mal and Jessi better than me (I can be quite paranoid, too). I liked the whole thing of getting ready for the pageant. I also found it funny that Dawn had no qualms about a beauty pageant when you know that later in the series she would have been all against it. Someone even mentions to her how the pageant could be sexist and she says something about how 'she never thought of it like that' or something like that.
