I find it almost irreverent that MA chooses Beth's death scene to read after her first day of bad luck.

Yeah, if that was supposed to be humor, it missed the mark. "Maybe I'll feel better reading about someone having a worse time than me." Come on, Mary Anne.

^Especially since Mary Anne always said sad movies made her feel SAD. I thought of this book earlier today while at the 99 Cent Only Store. They had Halloween necklaces with a small skeleton or ghost (I think other choices) dangling from a string. It reminded me of MA's mustard seed because wasn't the seed inside something bigger?

It was in a glassbauble. My mom has something like it on a charm bracelet. It's biblical.

Just re-read the book and through this thread along with "Part 2"about this book.
A year ago Mustardseed wrote:
In "real" life and time Logan whose birthday was said to been on January 10th, (Complete Guide) would have been very close to 14 years old. But still! Besides at this point it truly was only his second month in Stoneybrook, so it's not like he was familiar with much of the town and people.
Also, I know that the parents were told Kristy was having a late night slumber party. That part is believable. What's not "believable" (although we were never told just what Kristy and/or Charlie shared with their parents) is why Elizabeth and Watson didn't wonder why it took over two hours for Charlie and Kristy to bring the other girls back to their house? Surely, even Claudia couldn't have spent 2 hours at 7-11! (Kristy said maybe she'd have Charlie take them there for a snack before going to the Graveyard. Of course that was before Richard told MA of the mustard seed and the girls began devising their plan).
I still really like this one though-- so very funny.

For the longest time this book made me want to run around a graveyard at night. Fortunately I have grown out of that desire.

In Anne of Ingleside, one of Anne's daughters decides she has to walk past a graveyard after dark.

I still wouldn't mind traipsing around a cemetery at night! But I agree, it would have to be an old one, and as creepy as possible. I'd be one of those people who takes photos to see if any ghosts get captured on film, lol.

That's something I'd be interested in doing (and taking along a recorder too) but I don't know if I'd go through with it in the end

I'd be uncomfortable but I don't think I believe there are such things as ghosts.
