^Maybe Mary Anne does have some bipolar tendencies. That could explain her sometimes extreme "moods." ITA that the two of them got back together way too quickly and without much of any discussion on why they broke up and worse, the depression it sounded like MA had been going through for a while beforehand.

^ It doesn't sound far fetched at all, and he was too controlling and clingy and she was seeking someone to be intimate with and was too nice to say no though she finally put her foot down. Though I do understand why she got back with him and why it was too easy, it still doesn't make it right cause it doesn't mean he's changed, and fast forward to the friends forever series, he's acting up again!

I don't really think he was acting up in FF. Mary Anne just outgrew him.

^I agree. I think after 12 years of being 8th grade, for her 13th (FF) MA, was finally ready to try being more independent and make some new friends (aside from Memory Garden and of course, Dawn) on her own.

Yes, MA defended Pete in Kristy for President. I think she thought he was a good candidate. And for the people who think Pete was a clueless dork in KfP, remember, we're reading KfP with the Kristy filter on so maybe that's the way SHE thinks of him, at least when he's her competition. For the person who asked if they go skating in any of the books, they go rollerskating near the end of #68, Jessi and the Bad Babysitter. This book (MAML) made me ship MA/Pete too, and not just to get back at Logan and Cokie, I really think they'd be a good couple. (And Pete seems to have matured from snapping bra straps. How hard would you have to snap a girl's bra strap to have BOTH straps break, anyway? Or do you guys think it was a double-whammy?) This is one of my all-time favourite BSC books - maybe even my very most favourite. Except for the Toilet Monster. I really like the Kormans a lot but truly hate the toilet monster, mainly because I think they were too old to believe in that but what do I know about kids? (Answer: nada.)

I think that Mary Anne and Logan should've remained broken up for a little longer. I wonder if Mary Anne and Logan got back together because Ann didn't have any other ideas for a Mary Anne book. I would've liked to read about the rollar skating scene that was on the cover.
I got a laugh at how Cokie threw herself at Logan. It made her look pathetic.

Unless maybe the girl was wearing a super-cheap training bra with flimsy straps. Did anyone ever have a guy try to snap your bra strap? It seems like the kind of thing I always read about in books, but never actually happened to anyone in real life. When I was in eighth grade, the guys already seemed to be over snickering at girls' bras. There were plenty of other things to poke fun at (I'm thinking PMS jokes). I know period talk doesn't exist in the BSC, though.

anzuhana: Yes, Cokie was pathetic in her persuance of Logan but I really felt for her on Author Day. Not that she shouldn't have done the work but that was just painful. I would be a total Mary Anne on the AD project/presentation.
candykane: No, I don't remember any guys trying to/succeeding in snapping my bra strap. Possibly the boys had moved on to PMS jokes by then. I know my gfs and I did! (Or at least I remember us talking about our periods.)

I have been the unfortunate receiver of a bra strap snap. Funny enough it was today...just kidding it was back when I was young and some gross boy at church thought he would see if I had a bra yet. He snapped the back strap and I punched his lights out.

^She really did. I thought it was very nice how the BSC let her back in automatically too. I liked early Stacey and could understand her struggles with growing up but thought she was somewhat nasty in the "break-up." I admit to always wondering if the "Bad girls," hadn't been "so bad" or if the concert incident had not occurred would that have changed anything on Stacey's part? I didn't care for her "list" at the end since to me it sounded like she chose the BSC simply because there were more positives about them on her list.

i think it would have been really interesting if a real life author (especially someone like paula danziger, who was friends with ann) had made a cameo in the book at author's day.
