Shockingly we don't have a thread for the 13th book in the series! (From what I could see ). Loved: Stacey's "lame" Candy Land fantasy in the beginning about peppermint stick lampposts and such The Stacey/Dorianne/Howie drama The yard sale (and how Stacey priced a sweater at 40 bucks and a man at the sale wanted to buy the McGills' car) I think someone has brought this up before but two math teachers at SMS with Z names...Mr. Zizmore and Mr. Zorzi. As Stacey might say, " Tres weird."

I remember this book, I felt so bad about Stacey leaving Claudia and Charlotte though.

This is probably my favorite of the earlier books. For years I remembered them pricing stuff for the yard sale! It's weird how even before I got into reading the BSC books again, parts of books were never far from my mind.

This was one of the first bsc books I owned. (another one being Mallory and the trouble with twins.)

I STILL can't figure out why they wouldn't have given Stacey a party with SMS friends, and not the kids she baby-sat for...

Yeah they did go... the BSC did egg relay races for the kids, which still seems odd, as it was Stacey's party. I could imagine that Stacey's parents would have been kinda miffed to find out that the BSC had spent all the money from their personal things that they let them sell in the garage sale on slinky toys and transformers... I bet the kids looked forward to any of the BSC leaving so they can have another d**n party and win lots of prizes ('cause of course the BSC always gives a prize to everyone so no one feels left out). They probably each had a heart attack when Dawn left for good because they weren't invited (especially a kid like Jamie Newton who was traumatised when the Babysitters Agency wouldn't play with him and got in a strop with the BSC when they disbanded themselves for a while... Jamie will probably end up as one of those kids who grow up and hire a personal stripper dressed as a babysitter for his bachelor party to keep his babysitting dream satisfied ;D).

Another big babysitting event where they didn't get paid but did spend their own money on? Great. I bet Stacey felt so honored.

I was sad to see Stacey leave, however, when I read this book I already knew she was coming back. I liked her and Clauds friendship in this book a lot and the way Stacey is somewhat mixed up about going back to New York. I agree on the party though... seems a little lame to me.

I haven't read this book for ages now. I love Stacey, to me she is the very most important person in the bsc books. The first time I did read this book I did not know Stacey was coming back later, so it made me very very sad and kind of angry also. I have even thought well keep the rest of the books if you are making my favorite character leave. Gosh, was I relieved when I found out she would be coming back. Still I don't really like the books in which Stacey is living in NY. To me the BSC isn't complete without her. I rarely read this book now, although I know she will come back again, it still makes me sad to read about her leaving. Kind of silly isn't it?

When they originally published this book, were they already planning on having Stacey come back? I thought I remember reading somewhere that she only came back because people basically demanded it. But even at just 13 books in, I would think they'd have at least an inkling of who the fan favorite was.

I don't think the BSC is complete without Stacey, I wouldn't be surprised if the readers demanded her back.

I'm re-reading this now. So far it's taken about a week, this book is pretty dull. I do like the garage sale bit though, pretty funny. I can understand why the kids were invited to the party. The girls discussed just inviting kids from school but then they decided that would just be a normal party and they wanted to make it more special for Stacey, so I can kinda understand the charges being invited. It bothers me how HAPPY the girls look on the cover. They should be crying!
