I love this one and the snark !
Claudia was an insecure jerk who picked a fight with Laine who didn't even do anything wrong ! If someone picked a fight with me for no reason well I wouldn't sit back and take it . Good on Laine. Not only that Claudia was a b*tch to Kristy also.
Very surprised at MA in this book.
Stacey needed to be more patient. Not only that she was a real snob and what's wrong with acting like tourists??

Her mistake was she borrowed one of Kristy's turtlenecks and added buttons to it.

Those chunky highlights are everything. Her hair looks like a circus tent.

I found another one. Claudia's suit is rad. They look so cool on these French covers.

They did really well predicting future fashion. I would wear these outfits!

Stacey should be the little brown haired elf in the background, so I'm not sure if the blonde with the questionable belt is Dawn. Claudia continues to dress like a normal person.

I think the blonde is Stacey and the brunette is Laine?

No, the brunette should be Stacey. She matches up with the other covers from this artist. I haven't found a Dawn book to compare blondes. I guess the blonde could be Laine. She has closed off body language. Stacey looks like she's just a stranger behind them.
ETA: That's a lie, I have posted a few Dawn books. She has straight blonde hair. So I'm guessing this blonde is Laine.

They all look like they're laughing at her. I love the dinosaur. I don't love that Stacey's dressed like a banana. Translations: Petra blunders What a weekend, Susan!

Stacey looks like she's an adult; like she's a worker at the museum or one of the chaperones.

I'm sorry this picture will probably be huge, but I just saw it on gofugyourself and had to share. Look familiar? LMAO.

When I was a kid, I didn't like Stacey that much. I like her a lot more as an adult, but I'm wondering if this book is part of the reason why. She is super irritating in the first half, being embarrassed over absolutely everything. I can understand being annoyed by Mary Anne (she IS irritating- and very out-of-character- in this book), but otherwise, I just don't know what her problem is. Yes, Claudia shouldn't have packed for seventeen months, but Stacey didn't need to be so bitchy about how much of an inconvenience it was. Claudia probably didn't think of that.
Kristy was probably my favorite in this book. The classic "fill-it mig-nun" line (which I honestly don't think is THAT embarrassing), the first appearance of the collie hat, her trolling Dawn, and her fitting in with Stacey's New York friends is all pretty great.
Stacey's description of Laine v Claudia sort of bothers me for some reason. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it feels like she has an elevated opinion of Laine. Claudia likes junk food, but Laine likes GOURMET FOOD. Idk. Also, based on her description, I'd definitely rather hang out with Claudia. And why is it a big deal that Laine looks 19 (weird) but Claudia looks "fifteen, tops?" Ugh.
Mary Anne is very annoying in this book. She insists on Stacey choosing outfits for the party, Stacey chooses one for her, then Mary Anne decides against her. What? Her outfit does sound cute (it sounds kind of hippie to me), but it also sounds very much like an Ashley Wyeth outfit. The BSC are hypocrites. On Mary Anne, it's "very mature and attractive" (weird wording but okay), but on Ashley, it's weird/ bizarre.
I do like that they make up, and I like that it's written in a way that they all probably had a realization about their own behavior and decided not to be angry anymore. The baby-sitting part was actually fun to read about because their day out DOES sound fun.
Stacey's parents leave a note that they're going to church near the end. For some reason this surprised me. They don't seem religious at all.

Yes, Stacey did seem a much more snobbish kind of sophisticated in this book, almost like Dawn with the environment later aghast and on a quest for why aren't the rest of you also more city-like. I did feel bad for her, though, at the BSC and city friends not getting along, not easily mixing.
