I loved Stacey in this book! I think it's so funny when she's embarrassed by the other girls. Come on, some of the stuff they did WAS pretty embarrassing. I love when she gets a short fuse with them, especially Kristy. I agree with everyone who said it was realistic of a 13 year old. I always thought that Stacey and Kristy should have had more fights/disagreements because it seems like Kristy's antics would have been humiliating to Stacey a lot more often, since she was so sophisticated.

I loved this book - I think I liked reading about the whole NYC museum thing. It brings back fond memories of going to the Field Museum in Chicago from my childhood and I have always wanted to go to the one in NYC. The fight was pretty funny in this book and so were a lot of the other things - Claudia's "boxcar", Kristy wanting "fill it mig non", even Stacey's description of MA looking like something out of Little House on the Prairie.

Stacey was kind of a b*tch in this book, true but I think that was pretty much in character. She could be bitchy as was proved later on. Although the New York = Sophisticated crap always bugs me. Um no it doesn't actually. There are nerdy kids in New York too. Maybe the kids are a little more worldly.
And Laine must have been very developed physically to be able to pass for an 18 year old.

I really liked this book and I agree with most of what's been said here. Especially the Kristy/Stacey thing - it surprises me that these two didn't snap at each other more often. The kids running around with a bunch of 13 year old girl in NYC thing scared me, too

Totally, but then when you think about how some 14 year olds are capable of getting into clubs and bars... doesn't seem so unrealistic.

I just reread and loved it just as much as ever. Mostly like the Baby-sitting chapters and reading about how they visit all of the places in NYC - kind of feels like a mini-super special. I did like Laine better than usual in this one and had to admit that Claudia did start the fight. Thought Claudia was a jerk - especially how she cut in on Kristy and Coby. Stacey is a snob, too, but I like how she changes her attitude. Of course, I loved all of the funny parts arriving in NY and eating at the Hard Rock (which sounds like fun and the food sounds great This is still one of my favorites of the series.

I kind of didn't blame Stacey for being a b*tch. If someone loudly squealed, "Oh, you sound so grown-up!" to me, I would have been utterly humiliated.
I know Kristy's a millionaire's kid, but filet mignon? Really??

I'll bet Kristy didn't know what filet was - probably thought it was something "filling" I also can understand why Stacey was embarrassed but sometimes I think she goes to far with her "sophisticated" attitude. Then again, you would probably know better than me, mckay, since I see you're from NYC. I would bet that things are much different here in MI.

Well, I'm not as sophisticated as Stacey I mostly just figured that the menu would describe what it was, and, it being NY, list a price that discouraged her from ordering it. I like this book a lot, mainly because I practically was raised in the Museum of Natural History and it brings back good memories. And the cover rocks - it has the old Late Dinosaurs exhibit pictured, before they decided to "improve" on pretty much everything and include a bunch of extra gift shops and cafes and...*wanders off muttering*

I've never been to the Museum of Natural History but the description of it reminds me of the Field Museum in Chicago. I went there several times as a kid so reading about the kids' trip to the museum in NYC brings back good memories. I hate it when places "improve" on things, too One last word on the filet - my dad made me get it once when I was 9 (he thought I needed to "experience it" at least once.). Maybe that was what Kristy wanted - to "experience " something different) I wonder if she liked it as I would have prefered a cheeseburger. I'll bet Dawn was grossed out at her getting a "big chunk of meat"

This book made me mad. Stacey was a brat in this one too. The parents are nuts. I'm not gonna go into my rampage, but the parents of the book are stupid. Both the clients and the sitters.

Am rereading this book and love it as always ;D Something about Stacey's narration - even though she is a bit of a brat - is really funny. One thing I noticed was how Dawn was scared of getting stuck in the elevator. At first, I was like "hasn't she ever ridden in one before???" Then I remembered how she and Sunny got stuck in one in Dawn's Book. Maybe this experience traumatized her and made her afraid of elevators - I can almost understand that. Also had to laugh when Stacey asked the girls what they would do if she suggested wearing a "beanie with a propeller on top" because I knew a kid who wore one of these on top of his hard hat at the horse shows in gymkhana classes. When his horse ran, it spun around. He was an interesting boy.... ;D

^I think it was the girls mothers who were stuck but it still makes sense that an elevator would freak her out after that experience.
