Just had to say, ever since I read this book, whenever I've seen the crouching panther statue in Central Park, I think of Stacey. My school bus used to take me right past it every day. I love that statue...yet just like Stacey, I can't remember where it is either.

I've never been to NYC but every time I hear about it or read about it somewhere or see it on TV, I think of this book. Don't remember the mention of the statue but everything sounds so cool that I think I was overwhelmed. ;D I think I'm going to reread this one again even though I just read it. ;D

Ahhh it'd be so good to live around those places mentioned in the BSC. I got excited just because I saw an Eloise book in a second hand shop

one thing i dont get, is how come when stacey asked her mum if she could have her bsc friends over, did she not mention mallory or jessi at all? im sure they were members of the bsc by the time this book takes place...

Stacey didn't ask them because she wasn't really friends with them. She didn't really know Jessi at all, since Jessi moved to Stoneybrook after she had left, and Mallory to her was a client, not a friend.

another thing: i was kind of annoyed by the exaggerated portrayal of the 'country hick' stoneybrookers all wide-eyed and naive and lost in the big apple. For example, Mary Anne thinking that testers/samples could be kept? seriously- im sure you don't need to be born in a huge city to realise how shop counters work..

I just finished reading this book and probably unlike most of you guys, I sorta enjoyed it. I got SOOO jealous at the part where they rode a limo and watched a Broadway musical. I love watching musicals but I've NEVER been to New York before and I've NEVER seen a Broadway one and I've always wanted to see one!
Reading this book made me feel what it was like to be in New York. In some parts NYC was pretty much described like where I'm from (we also have a Hard Rock Cafe in which I've eaten at lots of times already... I even got to pass it yesterday) minus the awesome stuff that you can only find at NYC. My dad has been to NYC already and he says I'll enjoy it there.
And I do agree with you guys about Claudia being a total jerk. I know she's like one of my fave characters but she can be sort of a jerk at times (just like in here and in "Claudia and Mean Janine").
Oh, and I guess I'm sorta like Dawn in this one since I can be paranoid at some times (I also don't really enjoy riding elevators) since where I'm from, you ALWAYS have to be careful. If ever I'd get a chance to go to New York, I guess I'll sorta be a little like Mary Anne but not as irritating.

I'm going to try to do a reread of the New York books this month before I go on my trip there. I'm starting with The Truth About Stacey tonight, and this book will be next!

^ Oooh, that'll be fun (both the reading of all the NY themed books and the trip itself)!

I reread this one the other day, and I was surprised that the BSC make fun of Leslie Reames's wheat allergy (although not to her face, at least). They were really insensitive, like they thought it was her fault or something. Gee, it's not as if anybody in the BSC has a medical condition that means she has to be really careful what she eats...
