Lol, didn't she see Robert and Pete coming out of a chick flick together?

^ Not exactly. Claudia and Stacey left a theater and while Stacey was looking around, Stacey's name was called. I assume that it was Robert and not Pete, who said Stacey's name. And it was a chick flick that Robert and Pete watched.

He did go out with some other girls, other than Andi. I'll have to look it up.

Okay, I really don't like Stacey. Just re-read and came to Stacey's "perfect friend list" on Page 133. Stacey says no one in the BSC, except Claudia has any of the qualities on it. Two seconds later, she decides that as a group the other members fit the bill "in spades." With that decided she calls Claud announcing she wants to rejoin the BSC. Let me just say even more strongly agree with everyone else who has already said, coming back into the club should have nopt been so immediate. It would have also done Stacey a world of good to spend some time solo, figuring things out. Too bad Maureen wasn't at home to offer help. The Amy subplot, was boring. I felt bad for Amy but worse for Jeff. The nerve of MA and Dawn wrecking his room. If they were so concerned about what Amy would like they could have asked her. A simple solution would also have been to put her in a different room or if she had to go in Jeff's to put framed pictures over Jeff's posters and stickers. Nothing would get ruined that way and they could always patch up the nail holes later. I wonder if Sharon was told of their "plans?"

I just finished rereading this book. Stacey was snobby in this book, BUT I think middle school is a time when a lot of people feel this way - she was growing up (or thought she was) and her friends weren't. I liked when she blew up at the BSC - I thought it was realistic that she would be sick of the outings, the carnivals, the talent shows, etc. And Kristy's no-nonsense attitude got really old.

If she had just been upfront about her changing interests it would have been more "normal" middle school behavior. She was shady about it which I don't personally think is the norm for tweens.

^Exactly. She easily could have asked to be made an Associate Member for awhile (if she still wanted to be involved with the BSC). What bothered me was she turned the tables on the BSC Members by claiming they were the sole (main) reason she wanted to quit. Suddenly Stacey was too cool for them. The reality was, as you just said Sparklymouse, Stacey wanted a (better/more time) opportunity to explore other options.

Really? I think most middler schoolers are probably shady and just drop their friends suddenly instead of actually explaining to them that they were interested in different things. At least, that's how I remember middle school.

At least, that's how I remember middle school. Yeah, one day everything is cool and you're best friends and the next, they get up when you try to sit at the same table. I actually appreciated that this storyline was shown from the perspective of the Friend-Dumper, and not the other way around. It's a pretty universal experience, and I think that most of us have been on both sides of the situation.

^My experience was just that . So-called friends ditched me without ever verbally saying "why," although the answer was obvious: They wanted to impress the "cool" crowd. I was not "cool." I had known some of those people for at least 2 years before, possibly more. In retrospect, I wonder if Stacey was closer to the BSC members than those girls were to me...probably she was and I think that's part of what also bugs me.
