In middle school if I was changing, it wasn't good enough for former friends, especially if they were a bit younger than me by a grade or two or if I was feeling inadequate, even with people my age but couldn't help being around them cause of being in the same class and talking to them even if I didn't want to cause I liked their friends and not them, but the former friend not understanding. And also moving away from things you considered childish cause of conditioning happening and parents making you feel inadequate if you're not "social enough" ....I went through weird things like that in junior high

I'm not sure Junior High/Middle School was a fun time for anyone. I didn't hate it, but looking back, I sure did some goofy stuff! I had fun at the time, but there are quite a few embarrassing stories to tell about it.

I was pretty lucky early on that I figured out who I was, granted there were a couple of years where I tried to be things I wasn't. I found a great set of friends and that was a great grounding. Unfortunately, college was a bit different for me and that sort of became like my high school.

I have to say, I was a pretty good kid - I didn't drink, do drugs, etc. I'm talking about stupid things - like having my BFF call a guy I liked to see what he thought about me and stuff like that. Sooo stupid. I'm sure most middle schoolers do that, but looking back, how dumb! I was obsessed with that guy (who didn't like me - he was more in the popular crowd). I still blush when I see him because I think of how stupid I acted about him! And I don't get embarrassed easily!

I was like a zig zag with how old I acted. By grade 9 to early 11, I was trying to act 21 and finding myself in trouble and arguments and around crazy people but after some disasters, I shaped up and I was tame again the last half of high school and hung out with friends that were more like me and not like someone I'm not.
I had nice and sweet friends in university, but I let some of them go and the others though they are really nice don't seem to like the same things I do and I can't relate to them though they are nice people.

My closest friends are ones that I met in university. Though I am still friends with a few of my earlier school mates, definitely had a better time at uni. I also had the experience of being the dumped friend when I was around 12, so I agree that seems to be the age when people start to drift apart.

I don't really have that many close friends from high school/college; most of my close friends, I met here.

A LOL Maureen McGill moment (p. 41):
"Can you see my pimple?" I asked. "Which one?" Mom said with a straight face. "Mom!" "Just joking! You look sensational. Pizza Express won't ever know what hit it. Ready to go?"
Also, why Stacey and her new friends act like they invented pineapple on pizza? Wtf? That always bothered me.

Also, in the scene in which Stacey catches Dawn spying on her at Pizza Express, Robert finds out that Stacey didn't tell Mary Anne the REAL reason why she couldn't babysit for the Pikes (because she's going out with Robert). Why doesn't Robert get more mad at this? In Stacey's Lie, he gets angry at her for putting him in front of her friends all the time and lying to everyone. She did it again here. And he says nothing and just smiles. Wtf?

"Robert is amazing. He would eat a dictionary if you covered it with some sauce and put it in a toasted bun." p. 74
... Tell me again: how is that amazing?

Virgoscorpio, could you please start editing your posts if you think of more to say within a few hours of your first post rather than double or triple posting? It's one of the few rules around here that we try to stick to. (Mods can correct me if I'm wrong.)

Yeah, sure! No worries. Sorry. I just end up posting sometimes after I've logged out of the boards or thought or something else to say (while reading the book). Sometimes my original posts are really long as is so I just make a new post to separate comments or thoughts or what-not.

Yeah, I agree. If you couldn't tell, the post was cloaked in sarcasm. I think Lerangis was trying too hard to be funny with that joke.

Agreed about the "amazing" comment - although I thought they meant he had an amazing appetite. Or maybe they mean it's an amazing talent? Like saying chimps are amazing because they can do sign language, blah, blah, blah. That's kind of a stretch, but I'm trying. And for the record, I think chimps are way more amazing than Robert.
