"Please accept this heartfelt invitation to dissect a frog with me." Yeah it always made me laugh, even though it was pretty dorky.
I always wondered why they went with "mystery admirer" over "secret admirer."

^ I always wondered that, too. Maybe because the letters started getting creepy while "secret" would insinuate just nice notes??? Agree fluffy about being disappointed it was Bart instead of Alan. I like Alan and Kristy together but can't stand Bart. (as I've pointed out numerous times ;D) Actually as a kid, I was disappointed with the whole Kristy liking Bart thing. I didn't mind that he liked her but I wanted her to not have a boyfriend because I could relate to that.

Alan would have been cool, then it would have caused tension, and they wouldn't have had to made Cokie the one doing the creepy stuff, cause it's kinda Alan thing. Not in a bad way.

Ah, so this is the book that mentions Bart's "band." lol! Was his band mentioned in any of the other books? One thing I never understood about Bart sending Kristy those notes: HOW IN THE WORLD is writing "I love you, I love you, I love you" and all of that other stuff more embarassing than just asking her out in person?! I mean, man, I would feel like a major tool sending somebody those kinds of notes. Especially under the guise of being too shy or embarassed to just ask her out on a date.. I loved the part about the Pikes' Halloween costumes, especially Claire wanting to be a giraffe. I also loved the sleepover the BSC had at the end of the book! It's always nice to read about Shannon hanging out with the girls, and she was so cute and excited about the notes in this one. Still kind of confused about Kristy saying she's sophisticated & always goes on dates & has had a million boyfriends, though! Oh, the "World Series" between the Krushers and Bashers was stupid. One game does not make a "World Series"!

I liked seeing more of Shannon. She seems pretty cool. I love how excited she got over the notes and how she gave Bart the cold shoulder when she thought it was him sending the creepy ones. Kinda mean, but very 13-year-old-like behaviour. Word about one game not being a world series. However, at least I didn't have to read about more than one baseball game. IMO, that's always a plus!

Actually as a kid, I was disappointed with the whole Kristy liking Bart thing. I didn't mind that he liked her but I wanted her to not have a boyfriend because I could relate to that. It always annoyed me that even Mallory had a "sort of" boyfriend. As a fellow dork, it wasn't something I could relate to. In real life, girls of our calibre didn't get attention from guys, unless it was to be made fun of... even the nerdy guys wouldn't have dared show an interest for fear of being bullied even more than usual

I wonder if Bart's band had a name. Bart with the weird notes and Alan with the phantom calls and spying in book two...gee, why can't boys screw up the courage to ask Kristy out in person? I forgot about the Pikes picking out their costumes. That was cute. I also like the world series thing. And I loved Shannon spending a whole evening making that note for Kristy and then leaving it under her pillow. Too funny.

^ The boys are probably scared Kristy will beat them up. ;D That's what boys always used to say about me when we were that age at least and I'm not even sure why since I wasn't at all "tough". But I guess the consensus is that I'm Kristy so.... ;D This is on my reread list for Halloween and now I'm really looking forward to reading it - especially the part about the Pikes' costumes. ;D

That annoyed me too because I also was a dork and couldn't relate to anything like that. I remember going through junior high wondering why I didn't have a BF, even a "sort of" BF because everyone in the BSC had somebody, even dorky Mallory and shy MA (who somehow got a steady boyfriend). I didn't even start to get crushes on boys until I started high school. It definitely would've been a lot more realistic if the BSC just had guy friends instead of "sort of" romances.

^ Even though the Ben thing bothered me for the same reasons, I was more annoyed by the Kristy/Bart relationship. As a kid, Kristy was my favorite sitter and my "hero" for not having a boyfriend but then she started "dating" Bart. I felt almost betrayed by her (I think it might have been in this book) when that happened. ;D It wasn't that I didn't like guys. I just didn't feel the need to go out with anyone until I was older and thought the little jr. high romances of "boyfriend/girlfriend" for a day were so stupid.

Yes, I felt the same way!!! ;D I could imagine Kristy being the type who would also feel like that. Weird that she was "dating" Bart and acting like a typical lovesick teenybopper in Snowbound. This is KRISTY, not Stacey. I really doubt she would set her alarm for 5am or whatever it was to beautify herself. Especially since Bart never saw her looking so glamorous any other time. Why couldn't she have been the BSC member who rejected all that self-conciousness?

^ That's what I always wanted her to be like. When she would act like she did in Snowbound, I got so mad at her as a kid. I still do. ;D
