I think the portrait where they glue the blocks together is in Dawn's portrait. That was funny though. Oh! I remember that one. They glue the blocks so the boys can't knock them down.

Ooh, then I remember how sad it was when we never heard from that girl again (the girl Dawn played with . . . or was it Sunny? For some reason, I remember it being someone else. I have the worst memory.)

Okay Lucianno Pavarotti died today. Didn't he sing happy birthday to STacey on her 4th birthday in this book? or was it someone else? or am i totally having a schizoid moment?

^He did. Her parents take her to a fancy restaurant (I forget which one), and when everyone sings happy birthday, she hears a big, distinctive voice singing. When I heard he died, I thought, you know, there was a mention of him in a BSC book. The things you remember...

They took her to the Plaza, which is currently closed for renovation. Maybe it's a good thing AMM didn't put too many contemporary references in the books; they certainly don't last forever.

Okay Lucianno Pavarotti died today. Didn't he sing happy birthday to STacey on her 4th birthday in this book? or was it someone else? or am i totally having a schizoid moment? Just checked and it was Pavorotti singing to Stacey at the Plaza. That whole lunch sounded fun. I always loved (and still do ;D) getting dressed up to go somewhere "special" and fancy once in a while. While looking for the mention of the birthday, I noticed something about Stacey's aunt and uncle and cousins. Are they ever mentioned again? I always find it a bit strange that Stacey never seems to even mention her extended family. Mallory or Dawn either.

Thanks. I remember those references now. Any other mentions of Stacey’s family in other books? I always found it kind of strange that the only grandparents even mentioned in the Portrait books were MA’s Grandma Verna, Mimi, Nannie, Abby’s grandparents, and Granny and Pop Pop – all characters featured in the books, too. Were the other grandparents all dead by the time the kids were born? If not, it seems kind of strange that they weren’t mentioned at all. Even my dad’s family, who we barely see and are practically estranged from, were around when I was born. In fact, one of the problems between us now is that they tried to barge in despite my dad’s insistence that my mom needed to rest (they’re the kind to come and camp out for hours and won’t leave no matter what) so dad blocked our driveway off with a rope and sign that said “baby and mother resting” ;D Stacey’s family, especially, never seems to be mentioned. Guess they’re about as “close” as me and my dad’s family ;D

if they lived outside of stoneybrook perhaps they wouldn't get mentioned a lot.

Yeah, I also thought it was strange we didn't really hear more about Stacey's extended family. I remember her saying they had some family in NYC, but that's about it. Don't remember anything about grandparents. You'd think if they were dead she'd at least make a comment about it at some point in the series.

^ That's what I thought. Like maybe when Mimi died she could have mentioned being able to sympathize with Claudia.

^ I've never been there and will probably never go but it sounds cool, which is probably why I like reading about it in this book ;D
