Althought I don't like snow that much(but I love the cold weather and winter seasons), I just love this Super Special a lot! The cover is just too cute and I love how the artist drew Claire and Mary Anne, Mallory looks cute too and is that one of the triplet?

No, it's Margo or Vanessa.

I think it's Margo since she doesn't have glasses and Vanessa supposedly does.

I also generally see Vanessa as a glasses-wearer, but it's not consistent in the series.

I always thought it was Mary Anne, Mal, Margo and Claire on the cover. The girls look a lot alike, and I always pictured Claire and Margo to look identical (but just be different sizes because of their age difference). I think I mentioned this elsewhere, too.

We are having a bit of a 'snowbound' day here. The news kept saying this heavy snow was coming but mostly it was hit and miss so people were doubting it. Last night when we went to bed my husband said the weather people were just hyping it up on the news. And then the snow finally hit around 1 am.
Despite not being sure whether it would snow or not, I did make a grocery run last night. I love how the Pike parents don't even make a quick run for staples. I ran and got basics like milk, bread, cheese and cereal. Would it have killed Mrs. Pike to buy a few things just in case the weather forecasters were right? No, she had the whole 'well we have enough food for the day. i'll shop when i get home.' Mary Anne should have let her dad know they were low on food. He may have been able to bring something over rather than relying on Logan.
Quint being super mature and romantic was wierd and unrealistic. He was a year older than the Pike triplets. Jessi mentioned the older kids having fun and the teachers all having head aches or being stressed so she had to put the younger kids to bed. I could see Jessi helping but the grown ups should have been taking charge.
Kristy getting ready to face Bart in the morning was hilarious. Bart sees her all the time with no make up and her hair in a pony tail but because he's at her house she needs make up?

Mary Anne should have let her dad know they were low on food. He may have been able to bring something over rather than relying on Logan. It's the old "never get parents involved" thing they were all so fond of. Just like Claudia rejecting her mom's offer to stay and help with the Perkins girls. I would have welcomed the help! But Claudia said she didn't want the Perkinses to think she wasn't responsible enough to handle it.

Plus they're right across the street. Claudia couldn't have gone anywhere if she wanted to, so it's not like they would have been in much trouble.

i think it's interesting that kristy is the only one who is ever (as far as i remember) mentioned shaving, and yet she's supposed to be the most immature.

^ Maybe the others are so much more mature that they don't have to talk about it all the time?

I just re-read in hopes of being cooled off by it! I know a lot of you read books according to season but lol I've never read a book in terms of (opposite in story) of weather in real life. It sort of worked, at least I was entertained by one of my very favorite SS's. Two things I noticed were that Maureen was indeed so intent on getting her and Stacey home from the mall that the possibility of running out of food truly never occurred to her until it happened. I still think an overnight at the mall would have been interesting, though I also would have enjoyed reading about the Schiavones coming to dinner at Stacey's in January. Out of the zillion one mention characters in the series, they were one of the more interesting to me--perhaps because Stacey and her mom met them on their own as opposed to on some random vacation and we all know that I prefer the Stoneybrook based books for the most part. This read is the first time I gave thought to a possibly interesting Richard moment. We know he does not accompany Sharon and Dawn to the airport because he wanted to be home in case MA called from the Pikes. How simple it would have been for Ann to have thrown into that sentence, "If you call and I'm not here, that probably means MA did call, needing help and I'm at the Pikes--try me there." If that conversation had happened, I wonder if Richard might have indeed offered to spend the night the way Mrs. Kishi did (and should have) at the Perkinses. It was awesome that Laura apparently slept from maybe 8pm-4:30am--hard to believe but very cool nonetheless. It just seemed really strange that Mrs. Kishi after agreeing that Claud was okay with Gabbie and Myriah didn't either stick her ground about staying for Laura or taken the baby across the street. You'd think THAT might have occurred to Mr. Perkins when he called. But then, I'm "old fashioned" and still believe he should have called the Kishis after calling Claudia. Maybe that's just my attempt at prolonging this tale.

I'm re-reading this one as it's one of my favourites.
It's struck me in this one just how involved they are in everyone elses lives, e.g. in this book, MA & Mal think it odd that Stacey isn't at home and she doesn't have a sitting job. Yes, how dare Stacey not be at home when she isn't sitting?!

^Lol, her ear should be glued to the phone so that when a job did come in she could immediately take down the info and track down all the sitters to offer it around, right?

Just re-read and still one of my very favorites that I wish had lasted another day at least. It's so rare we get to read about the girls and their families (or with one another minus the group) that I enjoy when we do. I know my feelings on this are in the minority on here. I do think everyone will agree poor Chewy! I guess Rioko and Claudia didn't search that hard or they would have opened the door to the basement! Quint must secretly hold the identity of "King of the snowy frontier," walking from the train station to the dance school. It didn't sound as though both places were that close to one another either, I guess he was young and in love. Better that than him hitchhiking. I just had the thought, I'm sure this did not happen in Stoneybrook land of mini adults, but I wonder if Quint ever tried calling Jessi's dad or even her home number? Now I'm wondering if Mr. Ramsey ever did get home or whether he slept at his office? The only other "new" thing I thought of was if Jeff had called his dad in CA and whether Jack then called Richard (thinking he might reach Sharon). That would have been an interesting conversation to read!
