I really would have liked to read about Stacey and her mom getting stuck at the mall! I think that would have been more interesting. I would have like that when I was a kid.
Also Wth is up with then saying hey you may not see snow like this with global warming happening... Was this a topic back then???

^ I ALWAYS wanted Ann to write a BSC book about them getting stuck at the mall overnight!

I think global warming started being talked about when recycling started happening, and that was late 80s/early 90s. I remember learning about the evils of aerosol cans eating up our ozone layer.

I also would have liked the stuck-in-the-mall plot. Imagine if all the stores were still open and you got to browse around. It would be like a kid's fantasy!

Stuck in the mall makes me think of the Saved By The Bell episode where they hide out in the mall overnight so they can buy concert tickets in the morning. They do stuff like sleep in a tent in a sporting goods store and pretend to be mannequins in a store window. ;D

^ So many childhood classics could never happen today, thanks to modern technology. From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil. E. Frankweiler is a good example.

The back of Dawn's Big Date highlights the "Snowbound Kit" which includes a backpack, sleeping bag, nightshirt, videos & board game. It all sounds so exciting!

^ That's EXACTLY what I'd want if I were stuck in the snow somewhere. Who needs food, water, etc?

Bwahaha! As long as I sleep in this synthetic sleeping bag in the freezing cold, the Babysitter's Club will save me!

Since we finally got snow again, I'm back to reading Snowbound. When Mr. and Mrs. Pike are talking about their New York plans, they say that between breakfast and lunch, they're going to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Natural History, and they're going shopping downtown. I ... don't think they're going to wind up seeing very much at either museum.

Their day was absolutely jammed and crammed back. It sometimes makes me tired just to read about it. I also have always thought they should have (in the beginning) stayed over night or maybe even two nights to really enjoy all that they had planned. This reminds me of how reading about all the shopping Karen did in "Karen's Big Weekend." It sounded like the little house family never stopped for a second. Maybe it is just me wishing for all that energy, especially in such a big city like NY or hey I happen to live in a "big city," myself.

Maybe they had "highlights" lists of things they particularly wanted to see.

When I went to NYC last August, I was only there for four days and didn't have nearly enough time to do everything I would have liked - I needed a two-week vacation like they had in SS#6!
