The main thing I didn't like about this book is the fact that Stacey went as Mrs. Barrett's mother helper and not Dawn! It doesn't make any sense, Dawn was the one who acted like the kids mother in the earlier books. I guess the ghostwriters just picked one. I also wonder why the Pikes always chose Mary Anne and Stacey as their mother's helpers. Maybe they thought they were more mature than Kristy, Dawn, and Claudia? I can understand Mary Anne, because it seems like she babysat for the Pikes more than the other girls until Jessi came along. She even mentions in the first book that she was on her way to the Pikes, before the BSC was formed.

MA and Stacey were the ones able to go when the Pikes called about the job at the end of #7, so they were the ones that went. Then I guess they sort of had dibs on the job for the following summer.
(I love how a few of the early books lead into one another like that.)

Oh that's right! I remember about that in #7 now! Thanks! Not just the next summer, but in the first Super Special, Baby-sitter's on Board! Thanks for reminding me about #7, it makes a LITTLE more sense now!

I mean the tail end of *Claudia and Mean Janine*- the Pikes call about setting up mother's helpers for their trip. Dawn's on her way to CA, Claudia's family is going to the mountains, and Watson & Elizabeth want family time together so Kristy can't go.

Why did the Pikes bring baby-sitters on their family vacation to WDW? Did they buy tickets for them because they were so concerned about not being able to watch their 8 children on their own? The Pikes are weird. Especially since it's not like they have a set of sextuplets and twins who are all small and they need extra people. There are plenty of families with more kids then the Pikes who don't have sitters come on their vacations (just a documentary crew from TLC).

There's a Jon & Kate and a Duggar trip! Jon and Kate go to Disney World, but the Duggars go to disneyland. They didn't really show the duggars at disney for very long. It was way disappointing.
Actually, Jon and Kate did bring extra helpers. I think you would have to when you have a bunch of 3 year olds and two 6 or 7 year olds. Kate freaked out when someone gave them ice cream and one of them spilled on themselves. It was amusing.

^In fairness, the Duggars' trip was part of a long trip across the West. In an hour-long program, you can only show so much of any one thing!

I say if you want extra help and can afford it, go for it. The Pike parents were at least trying to make sure everyone in the family enjoyed their vacation. It wouldn't have been much fun for the triplets and Claire to have to hang out all day long, for example. And HOLY COW they wanted Mallory to relax and have fun.

I have a feeling that Mallory overreacted an awful lot when it came to babysitting for her family. I bet that Mallory begged to be able to be in charge with Jessi in this one, because it was SO dibble when Mary Anne and Stacey were mother's helpers!

It wouldn't have been much fun for the triplets and Claire to have to hang out all day long, for example. And HOLY COW they wanted Mallory to relax and have fun. It's been made clear in other books that the Pikes take advantage of having a sitter in the house without even realizing it. So it always seemed to make sense that they would make sure not to do that to Mal on their vacation, since it's her vacation, too.

Just to clarify...I don't want this next comment to be taken the wrong way...
Since they go on and on about Jessi being black (OMG who knew)...I thought it was a bit tacky that that th candy store in Jessi's chapter was called Kotton Kandy Korner. it most definately could have been spelled the proper way and still had the same first letters. I dunno that just really bothered me
