Here's Jessi's letter to MA. Dear MaryAnne, Hi? How’s California? How’s your vacation? How are you? Here’s the chain letter. Before I tell you my secret, though, let me tell you about Kristy. ***** Mallory and I talked to her again this morning, and guess what. She has to stay in the hospital a few extra days. She got a staff infection .Oh, Mal is watching me write this and she’s saying it’s a staph infection, not a staff infection. I thought Kristy caught something from one of the nurses or the dietician or someone. Anyway, Kristy can’t go home for a few more days now. So Mal and I had an idea. Why don’t we plan to have a party when we get back? It would be a special BSC reunion because we’ll all be together again, and especially because Kristy will be well and out of the hospital. We could surprise Kristy. If you write to Stacey and Claudia be sure to mention our idea. And tell Dawn, of course, and Logan. And someone should tell Shannon. Okay, on to my secret, which is actually Becca’s too. > One day I was sitting for my sister and brother, and it was rainy and Becca was bored. I was desperate to entertain her, so I said, “Let’s be pirates.” She loved the idea. We made costumes, and then Becca decided we should go on a treasure hunt. I said first we should make a map of where our gold was buried. So we did, but we drew it on a piece of new white paper, and Becca said it looked stupid. She said pirate maps are old, not new. So we were just going to burn the edges of the paper a little – to make them look old –only we dropped the match and it burned a hole in the living room rug. We never told our parents. We first moved a chair sideways a few inches until it covered the hole. A week later, Daddy found the mark while he was vacuuming, and he and Mama thought it had been made by friends of theirs who smoke. Becca and I didn’t say a word. We were off the hook. But we knew what we had done was wrong. We also knew we were lucky we hadn’t burned down the house. And that is my horrible secret. Actually, I feel better now that I’ve told someone. (I’ll feel even better if this chain letter brings me good luck.) Be sure to tell everyone about the party – and DO NOT BREAK THE CHAIN. Tons of Love, Jessi

^ Actually, my nice mommy didn't have anything going yesterday so I had her get my book and type the letter and save it for me to post. ;D She didn't appreciate Jessi's writing very much. ;D

Logan and Shannon didn't send their secret to anybody. It's too bad, because Kristy said she wanted to send the chain lettrer to EVERYBODY in the BCS, but they were left out. The last secret was sent to Shannon, but Shannon didn't send her secret, even though the letter she received said that if she wanted to continue the chain letter, she had to send it to Logan.

I wonder what kind of secret Shannon would have passed on, especially if it was to Logan. At that age, I'd probably choose something pretty tame if I had to tell to a boy.

I haven't heard about this book in a long time! I remember seeing this on commercials! I had several friends who owned this.

I liked the chain letter. Claudia's line of "Who are mom and dad?" amuses me every time I read it. I thought that Kristy's chain letter was sad.

I finally gave into temptation and ordered this book! My sister had a copy when we were little, and I remember loving it. I loved being able to take the letters out, and I loved their secrets. I particularly remember liking to read Stacey's (probably because I liked reading her handwriting). I still remember her letter had a drawing of socks (and she had to warp her words around the picture) and then she wrote something about hot dogs?
Anyway, I'm excited to get it. And I got it off Amazon, since you can get new, still shrink-wrapped copies of it for around $2.50. Chilly!

^Unless they charged you a crazy amount for shipping, that is just an odd sale. Why waste time packaging it up and sending it out for free? Good deal for you, though!

shipping is how those guys make their money. it's annoying, but when you need a book there's really no way around it. i was lucky enough to find both the chain letter and secret santa books in thrift stores (with all the letters still included) for 75 cents each.

Shipping was like a buck or two. Maybe they were hoping for more bids on the book. In the end, I think it was a pretty reasonable price.
