Did anyone else notice in the last page of the book, where the book titles are listed, it says Book 33 is Claudia and the Mystery of Stoneybrook and Book 35 is Stacey and the New Kids on the Block. They were forecast to come out April 1990 and June 1990 respectively. I heard about Stacey and the New Kids on the Block from this board, but I didn't know that Mystery of Stoneybrook was originally planned as a Claudia book. Maybe Scholastic should have noticed this marketing error beforehand... it just seems kind of bad on their part to have books advertised that don't come out as planned. Also, I know NKOTB isn't a good title because kids would mistake it for the popular music band at the time but I wonder what it could have been about... LOL!! That cracks me up. I'm fan of New Kids On The Block. I wouldn't catch on, if I saw the title in the back of the book, the first time. Maybe, it's about a missing band member of NKOTB. Stacey helps find one of NKOTB who went missing. ;D It was supposed to be about foster kids. Sorry to disappoint

Never heard about the new kids on the block book, that's brilliant! I guess Kristy ended up with continous new neighbors and the foster kid
This was like another Mary Anne's Revenge/Stacey's Revenge

They will be scratching their heads. Wondering, why does NKOTB need a baby-sitter? Been fun to read about the foster kids.

You know the part where Claudia is judging the snow sculpture contest and Kristy thinks she's being partial to the Red Team? Well, it would have been really easy to work around that. Claud could have been a judge but be more guaranteed to be neutral if she simply judged the sculptures once they were all completed without knowing who worked on what. Why didn't anybody think of that? Wouldn't that have been easy?

^What a great idea--I admit to never thinking of that myself. IIRC, it wasn't like each sculptor told Claud about their design. (no need for them to be present at judging). The only thing I can think of is maybe part of the judging was to observe how the finished piece came together and/or that everyone in the group "helped?" More likely, probably a case of wanting to add more "fuel" to the "Winter War." Thanks for bringing up something "new" for us to ponder over.

Today I was watching a clip from the I Love Lucy episode where she's rehearsing for the Vitameatavegemin commercial after I read about the boy performing it in the talent show. It's not very realistic that everyone in Stoneybrook is obsessed with Ann's favourite show, but judging from some of the videos that came up on YouTube, that skit actually is a popular one at school talent shows.

^Acting drunk is a popular "talent" at schools these days?

I was thinking of Pinky from this book the other day, and how her real name was Priscilla. I'm sure Ann just used it because of the book Pinky Pye. All the Priscillas I know or have known have definitely been prissy. I wonder, if Pinky was written today if her nickname would be something trendier like Pippa or Poppy.

^ Wasn't the dog in Beethoven II (or one of the characters) named Priscilla?

I like reading this one. I remember taking long bus trips in college. The trips were awful. They always stank and you’re crammed in a seat with limited room to move. I thought the lunch stop in this book was on point. The poor restaurant workers really do practically cry when busloads of people walk in. I also love, love the description of the hotel tour and Claudia checking out all the candy machines.

^ Wasn't the dog in Beethoven II (or one of the characters) named Priscilla? Been such a long time, I seen this movie. None of the characters is name Priscilla. Didn't Regina (The evil lady) had a cat name Priscilla? I'll have re-watch the movie. Here are the puppies names: Chubby, Dolly, Tchaikovsky, and Moe Unless, Priscilla is one of the other dogs or cat in the movie. Cause Beethoven girlfriend name is Missy.

From what I remember, there were no pets nor people named Priscilla in the movie. Regina didn't have any pets but she did try to get Missy and her puppies.
