^ Wasn't the dog in Beethoven II (or one of the characters) named Priscilla? I don't know about any pets or humans in Beethoven II but Amanda Delaney's cat is named Priscilla (and she cost $400). Wandering Frog: That's a great idea for the judging. I didn't think of that myself when reading the book back in the day but I wish that's what they'd done.

Been such a long time, I seen this movie. None of the characters is name Priscilla. Didn't Regina (The evil lady) had a cat name Priscilla? I'll have re-watch the movie. Here are the puppies names: Chubby, Dolly, Tchaikovsky, and Moe Unless, Priscilla is one of the other dogs or cat in the movie. Cause Beethoven girlfriend name is Missy. From what I remember, there were no pets nor people named Priscilla in the movie. Regina didn't have any pets but she did try to get Missy and her puppies. Oh okay. I remember Regina was trying to steal Missy & the puppies. Thanks for clearing that up.

I can't recall anything about the sequals to the Beethoven movies. I remember the girl in the first one though because of her strange name, Rice. I also agree about the juding for the snow-sculpture contest. There was so much drama about Kristy thinking Claudia was favoring her own team. I always wondered what Ashley Wyeth sculpted. They mentioned her being upset with Claudia, but I they never mentioned what she created.

^ Probably something really high concept...or a fire hydrant. Wasn't she really into the idea of sculpting one in #12?

^Ha, if she sculpted a fire hydrant she could find an actual dog (or Alan Gray) to pee on it. It would show great artistry.

HAHA. Maybe her sculpting skills don’t translate into snow-art.
I imagine Mal and Jessi’s ballet slippers ended up looking like mount of snow with large oval shaped holes in them.

I like how Mal and Jessi were subtly made fun of for their sculpture. And that Ashley was passed over by Claudia, since when were they ever "good friends" as Kristy says? K is ridiculous in her competitiveness btw, like shouting insults at Claudia on the slopes. And then she's so mature in front of the adults! Guy looks around 25, according to Claud...I wonder if she was correct. He sounded super hot and old to me as a kid, and now 25 seems so young. I'll just keep thinking he's older Troy Parker is a character mentioned. Surprising to see that, I thought he would have popped up much later in the series. I still would have loved to stay at the lodge! It sounds awesome, like a non-scary Overlook Hotel. Is it weird that I kind of want to know more about the staff? Teensy Mooseman (great name), Marie Castleman, and Curtis the cook. Curtis was mentioned a lot. I didn't get the point of having him yell "it's the Leicester Lodge ghost!" when the lights go off during scary story night, because um why is he trying to scare the children? And I wonder if he offered Mary Anne coffee as a joke. Mary Anne points out that he's missing a tooth which she "can't stand" (Mary Anne, I can't stand YOU in this book), as she's a "firm believer in dentures." Oh, and a teacher's dentures fall out from yelling too hard. Yeah. Kristy also can't stand loose teeth. File this under Ann's obsessions. Is the cover supposed to be showing the snowball fight? Mary Anne, Jessi, and Stacey weren't even in it. Okay, my fingers are tired.

^this Troy was arty, so they might have forgotten they used the name. A less-dramatic Sabrina Bouvier-type thing, maybe.

I reread this last night to cool off. I love Dawn's description of the lodge as the bus pulled up to it looking like a Christmas card. That also reminded me of how Stacey described the Schiavones home in Snowbound--sounded so warm and inviting. What an incredibly scary ordeal for the Conway Cove kids and I didn't realize that their two teachers (Mr. Doughtery and Miss Weber) left them alone with the injured (I think broken leg) bus driver while they sought out help at the lodge. So scary and I am very thankful that did work out well. I'm probably more like Ann when it comes to cell phones and just have a basic one that I only use when on the road if need be but it sure would have been helpful had the school bus had some type of emergency communication device aboard. My favorite parts are still Bryce and Ginnie bonding with Kristy and I was glad the kids got to make their own sculptures, too. Oh this is another example of Claud coming to the rescue with quick thinking in terms of taking pictures of each kid and their snow creation. It would have been sweet had their been some correspondence between the BSC and the kids once everyone went home.

I read this one last night and its not my favourite. I found it boring and predictable to be honest. Can't wait to read Island Adventure though, one of my favourites

I agree this wasn't one of my favourites, probably because I've never seen snow, and hate the cold, so I don't see the appeal. Plus MA was just so annoying!

This really isn't one of my favorite super specials as everybody else says. I mean, it's not bad nor good, just meh. Today I read it for the second time (I usually read BSC books a dozen times or more) because I was bored and I decided to reread books I hadn't read in a while and because I can't wait for snow (though we don't get much as we live in Tennessee). MA was really annoying in this SS. The letters she wrote to Logan (thank god she didn't send them to him) were creepy and weird. Her fantasies of that girl are funny, ha ha. Oh, and the ghost thing is boring, which is a disappointment. Kristy was also annoying. I wasn't too interested in the winter war plot as I am a MA and Mallory, and I do not like sports at all. Plus she was over the top bossy and, well, bitchy with Claudia and Dawn. Claudia. Hers was slightly interesting. I did sort of like her crush on Guy. The accent she drools over is funny. But the part where she imagines kissing him is kind of graphic for the target audience of seven to twelve years old... Dawn. Um. Hers was so boring that I forgot what her story was. No kidding. What was it?! I remember in the beginning she compares the lodge to the overlook hotel from the shining movie. She expected that the readers watched the movie. Ann wrote this SS, too, she should know better. btw, I've watched the shining, and it petrified me. I'll never watch it ever again. Ugh, too many nightmares. Mallory. Her dorkiness never goes away. I'll have to say hers is my favorite. Her spying and writing project is repetitive, though. I did enjoy Harriet the spy and I pretended to be a spy. I spied on my family which wasn't particularly interesting and the kids on the playground (there was only stuff like who's going out with who, celebrities, and talk about schoolwork, nothing too exciting). Isn't sad that I kind of want to do this again? Jessi. Ugh. She was so irritating. Her and her black issues are seriously overdone. She is so ignorant that she thought Pinky was racist even though she was mean to everybody else to the whites. When she danced for everybody, and everybody clapped and cheered, she felt accepted by her community. Um, no, this isn't about your skin color, they just think you're an excellent ballerina. *eye roll* stacey. Her romance with Pierre is boring and stupid. She falls in love every SS anyway. And of course he is mature and sophisticated because he is French... Yeah, not that great of a BSC book. I'd rate it 2 stars out of 5.

The Shining is one of my faves! I think I've said it enough times here lol. I read the book last year and loved it, but I saw the movie when I was 13. Ann's a huge fan of King, true. Doesn't Claudia say "I looked at his lips and imagined kissing them"? Haha. Oh Claud. As for the "black issues" I don't think it's that crazy of Jessi to wonder if the white students are thinking about her dark skin. I'm Hispanic (though I look white) and you do think about things like this, even at a young age. I love this book because I'd love to take a snowy vacation. I've seen snow once in my life and it wasn't even somewhere north. We had a freak snowstorm here in Texas ten years ago, just in time for Christmas.

Ugh. The Shining. Don't even mention the name of it! I like King, I've watched Pet Semetary and Cujo, those were good. Were there any other King references in the BSC? I didn't know Ann liked his books. It's a nice change from I love Lucy and wizard of oz for sure... Boo boo, I can't believe you've only seen snow once! I live south in Tennessee (I mentioned that in my previous post apparently) and when we do get snow we get about a quarter inch to an inch and a half about once or twice. Though in 1993 known as blizzard if 93, in three towns, there were 15, 30, and 60 inches of snow! 105 total. Boy, I wish I was there to see all that.

I know. I always think Tennessee looks beautiful in winter in the pictures I've seen, with the mountains there. Are there mountains near where you are? I'm so ready for wintry weather and clothes...it's November and still feels like summer
