I think Mary Anne's done. Most of my friends stopped growing by age thirteen. I reached my full height in fifth grade.

Well strange things happen in BSC land. Mary Anne could grow another foot by high school. Was Logan supposed to be tall? I remember he looked kinda puny on the cover of the dramatically titled Logan Bruno, Boy Babysitter. (Or maybe it was Logan's Story. Whichever wasn't the one where he's playing Twister with some kids. Hee.) His 13 year old boy cousin was 5'11". I'd hate to see how tall Louis was by the time he graduated.

The funniest part of junior high (at least from an adult perspective) is when the girls have grown and the boys haven't. At the music school where my husband and I went when we were in junior high and high school, the boys escort the girls down to the concerts. They usually carry the girls' instruments for them, too, and it looks mighty silly when you see a full-grown girl next to a boy still shy of five feet, and he's carrying her viola!

I think Mary Anne's done. Most of my friends stopped growing by age thirteen. I reached my full height in fifth grade. It usually depends on when you get your period.

^Usually girls stop growing about a year after their period starts.

^I never thought of that before, but it definitely makes sense to me wenonah. I was 12 when I got my period and I had stopped growing by the time I was 13.

It's just a rule of thumb, but fairly useful. The girls' growth charts (in pediatrics) stop at age 18 although most girls have quit growing well before that; the boys' chart actually goes to age 21!

^Here's some advice for the younger board members. Be nice to the dorky boys in high school because they may very well fill out and become manly men in college. ;D

Hear, hear! Judging from the pictures and my DH's descriptions of himself- well, that's my husband.

My bf grew 3 inches in a matter of a few months in H.S. He's 6' now, but he used to be pretty short for a guy.
I started my period at 11 and stopped growing around 12 or 13. I thought girls were supposed to stop growing around 16 though.

I actually like that Mary Anne's mom played basketball. That shows that Mary Anne takes after her dad...quiet and studious.

Mary Anne's mom did enjoy sewing, knitting, and handiworks, just like Mary Anne. Verna tells MA that in her portrait.
I was reading through this entire thread because I'm bored, so I know this post is old, but, I felt like responding:
It's pretty clear that MA in no way enjoys being the center of attention. Certainly overcoming stage fright is an important part of growing up and becoming more confident, but being a shy person myself, the idea of having a big wedding does make me feel sort of anxious. I see MA as the type of person who would have a very small, informal wedding. I think people who are not shy don't really understand the feelings shy people have about standing in front of crowds, knowing all eyes are on them. I don't know what it is about shyness that brings out a dislike/hate reaction in certain people. I was a very shy kid and there were people who didn't like me for that, JUST that. I don't get it.
Hehe, this reminds me of the scene in Annie Hall when Annie calls Alvy over at like 3 in the morning to kill a spider "the size of a Buick" in her bathtub ;D
