Starrynight, you're right -- the Pikes wouldn't sue. I guess I'm just thinking in real world terms, which don't always apply to Stoneybrook!

I like thinking of a world where people don't sue over practically everything. ;D Another reason to read the BSC.... This is also one of my favorite books. I like how Dawn and the other girls scare each other while investigating the passage. ;D Was glad that Nicky found somewhere to hide and get away from the awful triplets.

I wonder what parents in BSC land WOULD sue over something like that? First one that came to mind was the Prezziosos

I agree with all those suggestions.

How many people went looking for a secret passage in their house because of this book? I really wanted to break a hole in a wall once. It sounded hollow! I didn't know too much about buildings back then, lol.
Other than that, I liked Dawn and Jeff's interaction in this one. Especially when they're home alone while Sharon is out on a date with Trip-man. I liked non-grumpy Jeff. Too bad they sent him out of town so quickly. It seems like all the important relationships got rushed story lines.

I didn't look for a passage in my house (it was too small for something like that), but my best friend and I DID look for one in her house.

I didn't because I knew there wouldn't be one, but I'd have loved to find one!

I didn't after reading this, but I thought there was one after having seen The House of Dies Drear, which scared me bigtime!

This was the first BSC I ever read. I always loved the part where Margo and Vanessa shampooed Claire's hair. I thought it was pretty stupid when Dawn actually thought the ice cream cone was there in the passage, intact and crunchy for two hundred years. Dawn also had no proof her house was the one in the history book. I wish she researched it at the library, and found out for sure.

It was also ridiculous that Dawn and Jeff had no idea what ice cream cones were supposed to look like. I know they're alleged health food nuts, but you'd think they would have seen other people eating cones at some point in their lives, like at Disneyland or something.

I knew there wasn't a secret passage in my childhood home because my parents built the house right before I was born, and my dad wouldn't spring for a laundry room, let alone a secret passage. I was, however, terrified that the house was built on an ancient Indian burial ground.

How many people went looking for a secret passage in their house because of this book? I did, I did! lol. I went around tapping on the walls and stuff. One wall sounded really hollow, and I felt all around for a hidden button like Dawn did ;D This was in my old house, too, where a rich great uncle of mine had used to live. Apparantly when he died all his money wasn't found, and I theorized that it was hidden somewhere in the house ;D
