That is really true. Poor Janine...I know that they kinda struggled to have a baby right? Well, I wish they had had twins so that they could have done both. lol...however that would just add another pair of twins to Stoneybrook!

Aren't godparents (IRL) usually older than 13. ? My understanding of godparents is that they are responsible for the spiritual upbringing of a child., What would a 13 year old know about the spiritual upbringing of a child? (In my church, we don't have godparents though).

I think most Godparents are married adults and at least good friends if not relatives of the baby's parents. When I was 7 my cousin got married he and his wife were made my godparents. I always thought godparents were the first choice of who should raise the child if something happened to both the kid's parents.

I loved seeing a lighter side of John Kishi when he and Claud raced to the drugstore for film. I always liked that too. "We're a little like Bonnie and Clyde..." Cute.

My godparents were my aunt and uncle, and they belonged to the same church that my family attended at the time. I don't think the whole godparent role has to have religious connotations, though, and I don't think that it even means that those are the people who will get the kid if the parents die. Nowadays, it almost seems like an honorary title for someone who simply means something to the parents.

Come to tghink of it, one of my close friends would have been made godfather when he was a teenager. His goddaughter is just out of high school now but he's only 32 himself, so I guess he was about 14 when she was born?

I read this one last night and I liked it. I was actually more interested in the Philadelphia subplot than the main plot! I didn't care for the Arnold twins subplot at all. If they had left that out completely I'd have been happy; it would have made more room for the Philadelphia stuff. I also didn't care for the Melissa subplot (why did this book need two subplots anyway?). Claudia shouldn't have invited Melissa to go shopping with them. It led her on to thinking they might actually become friends. Claudia's thought of "a good deed is a good deed, right?" was rude and condescending, imo. Like she was doing Melissa a big favor by letting her shop with the oh-so-cool BSC.
I was surprised that Claudia wanted to sneak out for burgers after they'd already been in trouble for getting lost! But I liked it. It seemed like a realistic teenager thing to do, and I liked that they didn't get caught, either.
As for the main plot, I loved Claudia's excitement over waiting for Lynn to be born. It reminded me a little bit of when my niece was born. I was not, however, the newborn expert Claudia thought herself to be! She was awfully confident. I can't imagine being 13, swooping in and changing a newborn's diaper, putting on ointment, etc. Heck, I was scared to even hold my newborn niece unless I was already seated and had someone hand her to me. I was afraid I'd drop her! lol.
Claudia was so oblivious to the fact she was wearing out her welcome at Russ and Peaches' house. Why her parents didn't just flat-out tell her to quit going over there so much, I don't know. I guess because then we wouldn't have had the main conflict.

For as "strict" as Claudia's parents were supposed to be, they really didn't seem to pay much attention to what she was doing. "Going to your aunt's house for fifteen hours? Have fun! But don't you dare read a Nancy Drew book."

But don't you dare read a Nancy Drew book." LOL that's true. I think there was also a scene in this book where Claudia went to the kitchen to get some chocolate chip cookies after dinner. I guess the Kishis don't completely ban all junk from the house. They're usually portrayed as being totally against it, but maybe they're just against the huge amount that Claudia wants to eat.

I'm only a few pages in but had to stop after tearing up after hearing Claudia mention Mimi. P.S. I know Claudia did too but would like to think that I wasn't being a copycat.

So I Just finished reading this. It was okay. I didn't like how they just kind of plucked a name out of thin air and used her as the one being a pest to Claudia. It's kind of like when they used Erica Blumeberg and Emily Bernstein as Dawn's friends that were desperate to hang out with her in Dawn Schafer, Undercover Babysitter when they didn't show a history of that.
But man, I would've totally hung out with Melissa. She seemed sweet. I liked how Lerangis used the word "dissin" and when he said that Abby must've had a writer. And right after eating a huge buffet why did Claudia buy a bunch of snacks from the vending machine? Why was she still hungry? And how could a school spend that kind of money on all of those gourmet meals and hotels for a field trip for all of those kids?

Claudia was so annoying in this book!!! Come on, she couldn't take a freaking hint that Peaches didn't need her help? If I were Peaches, I would have called Mrs. Kishi and tell her that Claudia had better stop coming to my house and being a little know it all!!! I thought Lynn was an adorable baby, though. I love babies to pieces
I personally think Melissa was used as a plot token. She was used to annoy Claudia ar the field trip, right? And Claudia realized she was treating Peaches the way Melissa Etheridge was treating Claudia.
