^Good work, Greer. I think Washington Mall was supposed to be just past Stamford. Maybe it took 20-25 minutes or so give or take depending on traffic to get to Stamford. Then 5-10 more to get out to the mall, something like that perhaps?

I thought it was really childish of Maureen to mutter "what a hero" when Ed said his job allowed such good hospital care for Stacey. And when Stacey told them both to shut up and he was like "you were not raised to speak that way to anybody"? Well, set an example and stop sniping at each other, ugh.
I'm impressed that Charlotte was reading all those articles...I don't think I really paid attention to the newspaper aside from the comics when I was 8 ;D

So tonight, I was in a sauna and the guys I was in there with put the temperature up extremely high. I couldn't stand it eventually and had to run out of there for a drink of water. Only, I had to cup my hands and drink it directly from the sink. I felt like Stacey! I laughed because it also reminded me of other people who have done that too, and mentioned it on the boards, who also felt like Stacey when they furiously drank water directly from the tap.

I always thought Stacey was reaching dramatically for a brownie on this cover. But now I realize that she's actually trying to grab the bowl that's been knocked over and is about to fall. The whole scene makes more sense now.

That cover makes no sense! Becca and Charlotte aren't anywhere near the bowl, so they couldn't have been the ones to push it. If we're assuming the normal laws of physics apply, it totally looks like Stacey is shoving the bowl off the table.

Isn't Stacey supposed to have her own phone in her room? We always hear about how Claud has her own phone line and Stacey is the only one with a phone in her room (even thought it's a family line). In Chapter 4, Stacey hears the phone ringing from Maureen's room and runs to go get it. I'm assuming she's in her room if she can hear it that well. Why doesn't she pick up her own phone?!
Edited to add that Ann uses a good word in this book: raucous

Virgo, to me it still looks like Stacey is reaching for a Brownie.
All the "keeping information from my parents as not to worry them," is getting on my nerves this time around. What's worse, is that Stacey has not been feeling well for quite some time. At the end of this book, (I didn't even remember this) she and her mom talk about how recently she's had bronchitis and the flu. Out of all the hiding info from oblivious parents, I find this scenario hardest to believe. I am glad that Maureen and Ed apparently have come to trust Stacey more and allow her more independence in terms of caring for herself. However, shouldn't one of them even off-handedly ask once a week or so how her blood readings have been? IDK, maybe I just fail to "get" how a parent could have missed all these on-going signs.

I love the snark from Stacey about Claudia's notebook entries being mispelled! Hehe Claudia was studying for spelling with Janine and got 17 out of 20 right and Stacey says - even though you couldn't tell from her notebook entries!

the comment about drinking water in the sauna made me crack up  and this whole discussion about the "abstract" cover
even in Stacey's Ex Best Friend, she was using the phone in her mom's room, and so was Laine when King called her after being forced to ask Pete to the dance.

I probably had a pretty severe episode of non-diabetic hypoglycemia back in the fall, so I've done some reading about it since then. I've also read up a bit on diabetes since most of the information you can find about hypoglycemia is about hypoglycemia in diabetics. (Although hypoglycemia as a lifelong recurring condition without being a result of another illness is much rarer than a lot of people think it is, there are a bunch of medical conditions other than diabetes that can cause hypoglycemic episodes. You can have low blood sugar from being actively anorexic... but also if you're recovering from an eating disorder, sometimes when you eat more food than your body's been accustomed to having, your pancreas basically goes, "What is this I don't even," and your blood sugar suddenly plummets. Fun! Apparently delayed gastric emptying, which is a common side effect of eating disorders, can mess with your blood sugar levels, too.) So today I was reading Stacey's Emergency, and when I got to the part where Stacey suddenly feels dizzy and shaky and clammy, I thought, Huh, that sounds like a hypo. But she's in the hospital because her blood sugar is extremely high right now... And then I turned the page and the nurse yanked out Stacey's IV and said that her blood sugar was dropping, and I felt ridiculously proud of myself for actually, like, knowing something. I think in real life, though, if a diabetic's blood sugar dropped so much that she started getting those symptoms, stopping the extra insulin still wouldn't be enough to treat the hypo, and she'd need to eat something that would quickly put glucose into her bloodstream. Regarding Stacey using the phone in her mom's room, I had a phone in my room since I was 12 but I still used the phone in my parents' room occasionally. They had a bigger bed to stretch out on, so it was more comfortable. If you know your parents aren't going to be coming anywhere near their bedroom for a while, it's still somewhat private, too.

My favourite thing about this book was when Laine visited Stacey in hospital with presents. I really wanted those blue plastic tulips! Still do!

I want the laughing mirror and the wind-up spider wearing the big red glasses! I also want the cicada keychain that Stacey mentions.
