I feel that Robert was portrayed as "amazing" -- and I use that term loosely -- at the beginning of the series. And that was stated often. He went against all of his friends because he wanted to the right and just thing. He also dumped Stacey because she was being disloyal and untrue to her friends and family. Even though he was a jerk then, he was sensitive enough to right-his-wrongs and apologize to her the next day. For a 13-year-old boy, that's pretty amazing. I think the writers were trying to portray what "good boyfriends" are in the series, until they wanted to conflict-it-up by having Robert cheat on Stacey (and therefore create a new twist and sub-plot). Next thing you know, they would have given him a suit of armor and a horse or something...
But I thought it was weird how after Robert cheats on Stacey, it's implied that he "was never right" and never got over her afterwards. C'mon, is Stacey *that* amazing too?

I don't think it was Stacey herself so much as his depression that causes him to cheat in the first place.

Right, I'm just saying that after he broke up with her and started dating Andi, it was implied in the books (Stacey's Boyfriend, I believe) that he regretted it.

I think he thought Stacey was the one causing the problems and that Andi would "fix" it, but then he realized he ruined a good thing with Stacey.
Again, I think these sorts of situations are beyond what actually happens between thirteen-year-olds, but if you ignore that minuscule fact, it rings pretty true.

Was this the book where Jamie threw up a ton of Macaroni and cheese, or was that a different book

Yeah , she was on the phone with Robert and not paying attention, and the bsc found out about it since Mrs. Newton tried calling her but there was no call waiting

Am I the only one who wished this book was longer? There was so much more that could have happened! This book looks teeny weeny compared to most of the others.
I liked a lot of the moments with Maureen in it. Like when she presses Stacey's teal slacks -- which actually sounded pretty sophisticated -- and tells her not to dribble pizza sauce on it or when she's introducing herself to the blender.

I wish this book was longer because it's awesome! Janine asking if Claudia's painting of Stacey is a still life or a landscape is one of my favorite Janine things. Stacey on her totally sophisticated date while Kristy and Dawn act like babies at the next table? Classic. The bit where Dawn is spying on Stacey from behind the jukebox? Awesomely cringeworthy. Jamie Newton barfing all over the hallway? Gross, but so memorable. Stacey breaking Charlotte's heart by skipping the talent show? Not the easiest thing to read, but so something a teenage girl would do if she was fighting with her friends.
I did like Maureen in this book. She had some personality and seemed to really want Stacey to be happy.

I was reading Dawn and the Older Boy today and the part where Dawn spies on Travis and Sara made me think of this book. Dawn really likes to spy on people, I guess!

Yeah I had thought of Dawn and the Older Boy as well when she did that. But how did she know Stacey was at Pizza Express?

I assume she knew Stacey was out with Robert and actually went looking for her all across downtown. So, essentially, Pizza Express wasn't the first place she looked It would have been funny to see a sub-chapter with Dawn searching all around the town.
