I can see that happening, oldhickory! Right after Mary Anne hung up the phone and told Dawn she was going to sub for Stacey at the Pikes', Dawn probably went right to Stacey's and tailed her like she did Travis. ;D

Why does Stacey never get crap from people for spying on Robert in another book?

^I just looked and it's in "Stacey's Broken Heart," starting on Page 64.

I was going to say the same thing. Isn't there a scene involving them all and tennis? At least in the 1st chapter of the book. I remember this book takes place in August and is a summer book

Yeah, it's right near the beginning of the book. Stacey and Robert are playing tennis and Shelia (and I think Andi) show up and want to play doubles but Robert realizes Stacey doesn't want to so they don't.

^ That scene always makes me hungry because Stacey's eating tuna on a roll. I don't know why...I'm not super into tuna or anything.

Well I think Stacey had a good reason to spy considering she and Robert were long-term in Stoneybrook years. Dawn was not even with Travis and he played mind games with her.
I think Mary Anne could have seen Stacey from the Pikes when she was leaving or dressing up, like from the window, and maybe told Dawn she's going out. Dawn either heard something at school about her friend's going to Pizza Express that night, or decided to go downtown and figure out where she is

Also, by this point, the girls are already high-profile detectives solving crimes like dog-napping and counterfeit bills, so I suspect that finding a friend in downtown Stoneybrook is easy by comparison for such in depth sleuths

It occurred to me how different the series might have gone had Stacey an Claudia both decided after this super cool party that they were too grown up for the bsc. I must say that reading through Stacey's snarky comments, mal and jessi really did seem far from the maturity level. I still struggle with who I side with here because this seems like a natural evolution of middle school friendship.

Yeah it seemed like Claudia first got it, but then did a 360 thanks to Dawn and Mary Anne's surprise appearance followed by Charlotte Johanssen though I felt really bad for Stacey missing that by accident. Maybe Claudia should have confronted Stacey alone instead of Kristy and her yelling at her in front of the entire club, and she would have stayed but become an associate member or something, cause obviously she still liked kids but just couldn't devote all her time.

I do feel like everyone ganging up on her probably pushed it to a point she didn't necessarily want to go.

I do think she felt bad about Charlotte though and seriously forgot

^ That's the impression that I always got. Between the BSC and her new friends and Robert and everything else, Stacey had a lot on her plate. It was an honest mistake.
