Sarah wasn't mature. She was "mature" like Stacey was "sophisticated". Charlie was normally very mature, but he lost his head a bit in this one.

Charlie was pretty irresponsible when he let Angelica drive. I wasn't surprised that Kristy didn't like Angelica since Kristy hates change. I did like Kristy's conversation with Charlie at the end since it showed why their relationship is the way it is and how the family dealt with Patrick leaving.

charlie is definitely irresponsible and i don't blame anyone for being mad at him, but i guess i can understand why he did it. he's normally so level-headed and easy going and all of a sudden he's going through lots of changes. i think angelica was a horrible cow and i don't like her at all, but it's obvious that charlie's relationship with her was a lot different than his relationship with sarah. it was probably exciting to be with angelica and get to be a teen for a while. he never really got to experience what that was like until now.

^Charlie really never did have much of a chance to be a teen, or sadder, a kid. I always hated the description of Elizabeth's decree in Kristy's Portrait regarding all the kids' chores. ITA about Angelica. It's too bad Charlie never had a bigger role in a BSC book or SS chapter. I just had a random thought. What could have been very cool and interesting to read about would be if included in Kristy's Portrait, assuming she had talked more of her childhood, if each of her brothers had had a chapter. The same could be true to a different extent witht he rest of the girls with siblings.

This is the epitome of a BSC spring book to me. I loooove the spring energy on the cover. I actually remember first reading this book as a kid.

Since when did the Pike triplets become Krushers or were they just wanting to hang around Charlie? I am re-reading and noticed they attend a Klinic. One Pike-related thing I did enjoy was Mr. Pike pitching to the kids both at their home and at SES. I think that was the first time we ever saw him play with them. (His brood and others). The other thing which is sort of O/T, is that Kristy has a "pre-Klinic" lunch before noon. The only reason that stuck out to me is in Stoneybrook mealtimes seem to be later (to me anyway). Except for breakfast, lunch is generally 1-2pm, snacktime around 4ish and dinner at 7. I know that was random. Are the Perkins girls completely gone by now or so they pop back up? Too bad Charlie never did have a chance to go to college or at least realize there was no reason to "panic" since he'd never age!

^hahaha - that was the first thought I had about the pike triplets! They made such a huge deal about how they were in little league and the other couldn't be and now they are on the Krushers!
I really like Charlie. I do feel like he got off pretty easy on this one although I bet he felt pretty bad about it since Watson has been so great to his family. It was really sweet to see that last chapter with him confiding in Kristy. Kristy needs a WWCD bracelet! I hope this is the last Krusher book b/c I don't think I can take much more! I love baseball but I'm over the Krushers!

^They really did.
I love the Krushers but they were so much "fresher" (like the other characters, sadly) to read about in the beginning.

Holy moly! I can't believe that it will be coming up on 15 years since this book was first published (April 1997). I still remember when it came out and have memories of being on the playground with it -- and borrowing it from a friend at the time. Even though I'm in my late 20s, this makes me feel ancient, haha.

Lerangis definitely had a field-day with the name Angelica. (The name personally reminds me of Rugrats!)
I liked how Charlie had an epiphany and realized that he was spending his spring break hanging out with his babysitter sister's sitting charges. Furthermore, the BSC's enthusiasm never seizes to amaze me. I have no idea why most of them would want to organize their 203083th baseball clinic over spring break. Kristy even gets up at 8a.m. during her break!
It would be interesting to join all of the Krushers/baseball subplots together as it would probably make for one predictable read. Matt hits a home run. Marnie needs a t-ball stand. Claire picks flowers in the field. Jackie scrapes his knee.
It seems like they (Scholastic et al.) were really picking out subplots from their arses. Krushers Klinic. Seriously!? Only thing that would have made it worse would be a KRUSHERS KLINIC FESTIVAAAAAAL ugggh!
