Time to pull out this again sometime. I love it as a summer read because of all of the Fire Island descriptions and summer activities.

I finished this one last night and it really upset me! Haha. I got to the part where everyone took Claudia's side and got mad at Stacey and I felt so awful for Stacey I wanted to cry. Inwardly, I was going "Smack those BSC snobs, Stacey! Punch them!" LOL. It was really weird. Guess I shouldn't read this one when I'm already in a bad mood...

I really don't remember this book all too well but you all want to make me want to reread it. My copy is very odd however, it's like really thin and I feel as if the pages will rip.

^My copy of this book is incredibly thin too!!! That's really weird. It annoys me, and I've been keeping my eyes open for another copy when I've been at thrift stores. My copy looks like it's half the length of a normal BSC book, but it has all the pages.

Maybe it was made from that really thin (almost dictionary/ Bible-like) paper? I came across a BSC book with that type of paper once but I forget which one it was and I know it wasn't Stacey's Lie though.

That's what mine is like and it's really weird, I'll probably have to find a new one on amazon.

I have a book with weird paper like that. Mine is Karen's Two Families and the title almost doesn't fit on the spine it's so thin. It also doesn't have a price printed on the cover like most of the books do. My copy of Stacey's Lie is normal though, and I'm glad. The thin paper is weird feeling.

Kristy and the Secret of Susan and Claudia and the Great Search were like that for me, thin paper and unshiny covers. I'm pretty sure one more book was like that for me, but I can't remember which one. Possibly Dawn's Wicked Stepsister or Kristy and the Mother's Day Surprise.
I felt bad for Stacey too and how her friends and dad were acting.

I rated this book 2 half stars.
Plot: Stacey, should realize, that sooner or later, people will find out about her and Robert, were hanging out. Mr. McGill, telling Claudia, to show the girls to their rooms. Sure, he was mad at Stacey. But, he didn't tell about his new girlfriend, Samantha. Cause, he want break it to her gently. Theirs no easy way to tell your child, your dating a new person.
Also, while, I was reading what Samantha wore. It's the same outfit, what Stacey's wearing on the front cover. Expect, Stacey, didn't huge gold earrings and gold sandals on the front cover.
Sub-plot: So funny. Crack me up. What kid, doesn't want dress up like a twin?
Claudia, was just too....I can't think of the word. Surely, she could walk around Fire Island, see, if theirs shops, she might like. While Stacey, sneak off to be with Robert.
Some of the chapters of the book, remind me of romantic book.
I been on ferry boat. When, we went to Mackinac Island. I got sea sick. Cause, I was on top. (We also, found out, that jacuzzi tubs, that's over 100 degrees, makes me sick. So, I stayed out of jacuzzi tubs, when we spend night at hotel.)
I was going say something else about this book. But, I can't think of it.

Seeing this thread up at the top of the list reminded me that I need to read the book again before summer's over. I read it for the first time at camp, and I have very good memories of being there!

I really enjoyed this one. Loved seeing Stacey taking down a peg or two! But then I kind of felt sorry for her (not too much) when everyone was mad at her-even Robert. Basically she chose her boyfriend over her best friend. I think from this onwards Stacey's friendships with everyone goes downhill?
I also loved the subplot with Hayley and Vanessa and thought it was cute they acted all lovey-dovey when they made up. Awww.
