I never understood why the portraits were graded -- it almost made it seem like the story that had the A+ was better than the B- story. Claudia got the lowest grade, I think, at a B- or something. Didn't Mary Anne get an A? I thought that was messed up. Claudia's should have gotten an A, too.

I haven't read all of them yet, but I remember Kristy getting a B+. I think I liked hers even better than Mary Anne's, which got an A+ I believe.

^ I always thought Kristy should have gotten an A, too. Maybe we weren't reading the actual grammatical work, though (if this makes sense). What grade did Abby's get?

I just checked- Abby's got an A- .
I agree that the lower grades were just based on grammar or something like that.
Abby's Portrait was definitely my favorite.
It's pretty amazing that Abby wrote a whole book over a weekend and got a near perfect grade on it ;D.

^ I think Abby's was my favorite, too. ;D I wonder how long the real assignment ended up being.

I always liked Abby's portrait a lot, it provided more insight into her life.

I always liked Abby's portrait a lot, it provided more insight into her life. I always liked Abby's portrait a lot too for the same reasons. Since she was new to the BSC, her portrait really helped me to get to know her a lot better . I know that Jessi and Mal were in sixth grade and didn't get this project (even though we had to write autobiographies in sixth grade), but to be fair, they should've had portrait books for them too .

^Agreed. It would have been nice to learn more about Jessi and Mal. It would have been nice to hear more about Jessi's days in Oakley and starting dance. And Mal when all the other kids were born.

Agreed! Even though Jessi and Mal weren't favorites of mine as a kid I still would have loved to see what their portraits would have included.

Ooh, I would have enjoyed Jessi's and Mal's portrait books so much! I always thought that we should have known them better. Anyway, I have read only Stacey's, Claud's, Abby's and MA's portrait books. I enjoyed Abby's definitely the most, the others were okay as well.

I felt like Dawn's was kind of flat. I enjoyed the chapter where she first met Sunny, but the others bored me -- the ones at the end were repeats from what happened in other books.

It sounds like something Mal would have done after hearing about the eighth graders project, just for fun!

My copy of Claudia's doesn't even have a grade, unless its in a different spot then Stacey's. I (being the person that I am) opened up to see the grade first, when I realized they were graded.
Anyone know what's going on with that?
