They met when Kristy was walking Shannon, I think. I was always under the impression that Bart was in the same rich neighborhood, even if he WASN'T on the same street.

They meet in Kristy and the Walking Disaster, and yeah, I think he'd be within a twenty minute walk from Kristy's house or something... Not too far, but not the same street, either.

This is just so weird because I ALWAYS pictured him living on the same street as Kristy. He goes to Shannon's school, right? Maybe that's why I thought he lived right by her.

I always assume he lived a couple streets away. What I thought was weird that they'd all walk to SES for practices and games. Since the "rich neighborhood" was supposedly so far away, it seemed pretty crazy.

It is a Little Sister book I fondly remember. Karen develops a crush on Bart and when she goes to his house with Kristy to watch movies, she takes a corsage for him. Then, when Bart does not reciprocate her feelings, she sabotages him while he is sitting for her and Andrew. Fabulosity.

I just got that LS book and loved it - Karen's Babysitter it's called I think. As for this SS, I reread a while ago but am just getting around to posting so might not remember all of what I want to say about it. Basically, didn't love it or hate it but a few things jumped out at me. Kristy was totally out of character and a bit annoying (I prefer Kristy who doesn't care about boys). Thought she was stupid to shave her legs - was she planning on wearing shorts? I did find Bart having to stay there plausible. Also totally understood Mrs. McGill and Sharon's driving problems as they were not used to driving in that type of situation or in Mrs. McGill's case, probably not much driving experience. And even the most experienced drivers can be really nervous in certain situations - my mom freaks in snow and traffic and we've lived in MI (where it is currently a blizzard forever. Liked the whole idea of MA and Mal staying alone with the Pike kids (but once again pretended the girls were older) but it annoyed me the part about running out of food. Logan on the skis was sweet though. Stacey not dressing warm enough - how stupid! At least put some warm clothes in the car. That is what my dad always made me do before he would let me go anywhere in the car in the winter. Can't remember the rest of my thoughts but I might have had some more.

^I assumed she was going to wear a skirt or dress. But yeah, it was dumb. I'm sure Bart's seen her in shorts with unshaved legs.

I think I liked the parts with the Pike kids the most in this book. It does bother me though also though that they ran out of food. Granted they were not planning on getting stranded, but you would think that Mr. and Mrs. Pike would make sure the fridge was well stocked!

Maybe she wears the "uniform" of turtleneck and jeans for baseball too? Or maybe she wears those baseball pants so she looks "official" ;D

love this book, especially kristy and the "toast-for-brains" comment.
the only question i have is, how did she set her alarm for 5:30am if the power was out? i've always wondered that. is it an inconsistency or does she just have a battery powered alarm?

I've never thought about that, but I guess she just had a battery-powered alarm clock.
When Kristy shaved her legs in this book was it the first time she'd EVER done it?

^I have never, in all of my readings of "Snowboud," given the alarm clock thing a thought. Maybe the power was back on by then? I can't remember...

Knowing Ann, she probably had one of those old fashioned wind up clocks.

Never thought of the clock and forgot the "toast for brains" but it's great! Was this the one where Karen's rat got loose at the beginning? I already forgot Whatever that one is, the first chapter is hilarious! I think it said it was the first time ever Kristy shaved her legs but I might be wrong.

no, the power was still off because that was why they went to bed. i bet they just didn't even think about that. oh, well.
and yes, aln1982, this was the one where the rat was loose (although we find out at the end that david michael rat-napped her. lame.)
way to go kristy, the first time shaving your legs!
