and yes, aln1982, this was the one where the rat was loose (although we find out at the end that david michael rat-napped her. lame.) The plot of Little Sister SS#3 was Karen trying to find her missing rat, so they had to throw it into this book, which happened at the same time, for purposes of continuity. Not that they're big on continuity as a whole.

Since I love the book where Karen loses her rat (Karen's Mystery), I find that plot in Snowbound highly amusing. Especially since upon hearing the news Mary Anne is like, "Oh...remind not to visit your house until...the problem's cleared up."

MA's comment made me think of her fear at the Mancuses' (sp?) in Jessi Ramsey Pet Sitter - loved that part of that book too. I'll have to reread Karen's Mystery. I had forgotten about that one.

^What other reason could there be? But, yeah, I can also see how it might be fun, sort of like the novelty of Take Your Daughter to Work Day...just...with your friend. And to school. A few years ago my friend brought her then- boyfriend to school (we were juniors) and he had to say that he was moving next year and thinking about transfering there. Both parents had to sign some form, but it wasn't too complicated.

I agree with the novelty of introducing different friends and showing off different parts of your life being something exciting. I always wanted my friends from the horse shows to meet my friends in town and my family. Kind of helps make things feel more "connected", too, if that makes any sense. I had forgotten that Quint comes to visit in this book. Maybe I need to reread today to cool myself off since it's hot and humid out ;D

I love this Super Special so much. I'm so depressed that it fell out of its cover and into two pieces. The first half, along with the cover, has mysteriously disappeared off the face of the planet. I still have the second half, though. I still have the picture of the girls at the dance looking like washed-up drag queens. Lucky me.

I still have the picture of the girls at the dance looking like washed-up drag queens. Lucky me. LOL I just started re-reading this Super Special last night. I always liked it, because it reminded me of a snowstorm that happened when I was little. We had close to a foot of snow, which is a big deal where I live (the mountains of VA). We don't normally have bad winters like that. I thought Kristy's freaking out over Bart being there was kind of funny. He always seems to bring out her "girly" side. (I remember her getting a little mushy talking about him in Kristy & the Haunted Mansion.) One thing that did strike me was the cover art. It was a decent picture, don't get me wrong, but Mary Anne looked about 18. Did anybody else notice that?

^ She does look old. Kind of pretty, too, though. I think they often look quite old, which is why I usually don't pay much attention to covers and illustrations.

I often think they look older than they are supposed to be on covers as well, although I thought Mary Anne looked kind of pretty as well on this cover.

^Stoneybrook was a fairly small town. As long as it wasn't actually snowing anymore, why couldn't one of the girls have walked to the grocery store? I think the Pike kids would have behaved for only one sitter in that kind of a situation. Also, what parents go off an leave their kids with no food? I know they didn't think they'd be gone that long, but most parents I know would stock the house BEFORE they left. I really do love this SS; I don't know why I'm feeling so critical of it today!

I often think they look older than they are supposed to be on covers as well, although I thought Mary Anne looked kind of pretty as well on this cover. Same here. This is probably one of the better Mary Anne covers, but as I said before, she looked a lot older than 13. Then again, even the writing sometimes makes them seem more mature than what most 13-year-olds are.

I find the Logan going to the store thing SO unrealistic. Seriously there was no food in the house?! Yeah right. No frozen foods? No noodles in the pantry? no canned veggies?
