No, can't say I ever noticed that. I think of Mallory and Claudia being the ones who sat for them the most, probably because "Mallory and the Trouble With Twins" is pretty Arnold-heavy.

I only remember Logan sitting for them in World's Cutest Baby.

I found a couple refrences of him sitting for them...not actual job chapters, just mentions of it.

Oh, that makes sense. I'll have to read more carefully to find them.

I'm inclined to agreee, honestly, unless I really knew him well (or he was their own brother!)

Last night, I watched the 1961 version of Babes in Toyland and I wonder if AMM got her idea for the Arnold twins from that movie. The twins in the movie real names were Marilee and Melanie Arnold for starters. And they were always dressed exactly alike (and to the nines) and did everything in unison. We all know how much AMM loves the oldies.

What else (if anything) were those Arnolds in? (as I head off to IMDB....)

I just reread Mary Anne's Makeover and Marilyn is pretty snarky! It made me laugh when Carolyn announces she's discovered the secret to time travel and Marilyn says, "What, you rearranged the milk crates?" because it's totally what I would say. (I always slightly preferred Marilyn to Carolyn, maybe because she was the less popular and "outgoing" one. And didn't have a mullet.) I actually really like Carolyn's time machine plot, though I know some people think it's stupid or unrealistic that she would believe it could work. (Think about all the stuff Karen believes--Carolyn's not THAT much older. And it always kind of touched me that Marilyn sort of instinctively "gets it" and comes up with her story about Paris.)
Also, there's a part where Claudia is bored because one twin is dutifully practicing without being nagged, and the other is keeping herself entertained. Sign ME up to baby-sit those two, plz.

I always enjoyed the Arnold twins as well, and thought their subplots were interesting. I do have to agree about non-family boys baby sitting my (future) daughters... or sons, for that matter. It's terrible to say, but I'm paranoid about that stuff. I've seen too many documentaries about it, and it makes me sick. So if that means not trusting teenage boys to look after my kids, even if it means being gender biased (and I normally don't discriminate against ANYONE) so be it. I think I'm feeling particularly disgusted because of a news program I watched last night But back to the Arnolds. I've always loved the idea of twins too, and I think the cool one, and the quiet one reminds me of Liz and Jess.

It honestly never crossed my mind that some people wouldn't want a boy sitter. My brother is a far superior baby-sitter to me.

Yeah, I'd be thrilled that the kids didn't need constant entertainment! You'd think Claudia would be thrilled to have time to read a Nancy Drew.

I never really like them. Playing tricks on Mal just because she said they were cute? Mal couldn't have been the first one to say that their identicle lives were cute. And it was weird how they picked her comment and all the BSC to take it out on. It didn't sound like their mother knew anything about their misbehavior or put up with too much. And the tricks lasted so long and through several sitters. I always thought they were brats, even though they really only misbehaved in that one book. maybe they just didn't like mallory

Never? It crossed mine at a young age, but I guess I grew up around too many traditionalists...
