Her name was Gina Gallagher. I only know this because I am currently watching one of the episodes with her in it. I thought that they got Karen exactly right. She looks just like she does on the cover of the Little Sister books. I agree that Kristy was perfect. I keep watching her and thinking that really is Kristy. Dawn's hair seems right but I'm not totally convinced.
About Claudia no I don't think she looks particularly Japanese in the videos. I do want to nitpick and say that there is a very big difference between looking Asian and actually looking Japanese. It doesn't matter if she does in fact look Asian, she is supposed to be Japanese and there is really no such thing as generic Asian in any case.

Yup, Karen was a dead ringer. I loved her, the actress was really cute.

The actresses in the movie really seem to capture the closeness of their friendship and the Club. It's a shame they didn't make sequels to that movie back when it was made. Maybe food for though for the future...BSC reunion. WHO IS BEHIND A BSC REUNION MOVIE?

A reunion movie would be cool, I think she needs to write a reunion book first though

I'd be more into a reunion book! Although a movie would be awesome too! I'm just always kinda disappointed by the movie/tv episodes cause the girls just don't "fit" or something... they don't capture the essence of the BSC for me! the tv girls are WAAAAAAY too in love with one another and the movie girls had too many of their own storylines that kept them apart from each other.

I preferred the tv shows to the movie for the most part. Movie Kristy wasn't anything like I'd always pictured. I also hated Logan in the movie. Too dorky or something.

I think the tv show is cheesy but that is one of the reasons I like it. It doesn't require me to be all serious, I can just kick back and watch something lighthearted. I wish I had them on dvd

You have to love how the girls demonstrate their incredibly close friendship in the videos. I still rememebr one part in "Stacey Takes a Stand" when the girls are saying goodbye to her and they call out, "Bye Stace! We love you!" Ha, it must be nice to live in the perfect and pure land of Stonybrook, where everybody loves each other and no matter what happens, it all turns out okay in the end. Things are portrayed much more idealistically than realistically, but I think that's why I like it so much. ;D I thought most of the actresses were a pretty good fit for their parts, with a few exceptions. To me, Dawn doesn’t look very much like how I pictured her or how the books described her. Why can’t anybody portray Dawn exactly like she’s supposed to be? I guess it would be hard to find a teenage girl with looong white blonde hair. Actual white blonde hair is pretty rare, especially in older kids. I guess what bothered me most was that her hair seemed almost fuzzy at times. I also thought she looked and sounded too “old.” I know you guys are going to think I’m crazy, but for some reason I actually never really picked up on her Jersey accent. I never even noticed it! Was it more obvious in some shows than others? I honestly never thought of her as having an accent. Mary Anne didn’t look like how I pictured her either- too tall and stocky. The rest of the kids were great, though (except I agree that Claudia did need to look a little more Japanese). Agree that the girls who played Kristy and Karen were perfect. And I actually liked Stacey’s curls! I thought she was really pretty. Does anyone else think her personality seemed a little different from how it could be in the books? Stacey still comes off as a sophisticated New Yorker, but she doesn’t seem snobby at all in the videos. She always seems gentle and sweet somehow. I don’t know why. Maybe it's her voice. Then again, I only saw three videos.

Dawn was pretty much how i pictured her.... until they chopped off her hair in the later episodes. I do agree though that in some of the earlier episodes her hair jus looked...AWFUL...but it was long at least. I think it looked prettiest in dawn and the dream boy.

I'm watching my first BSC video - Dawn Saves the Trees - right now. I have to say that I really prefer the books and don't really like the video. Jamie and Charlotte and Becca are kind of cute but none of the girls are how I picture them. I think I'll stick with imagining them as I read the books. ;D

The ironic thing about the suckiness of the miscast Mary Anne is that I could SWEAR somewhere that I read they thought the actress was so perfect that they delayed filming until her braces came off! Maybe she had a growth spurt while they were waiting?

I didn't mind Mary Anne in the series... besides the fact that she was just so d**n tall. I could overlookk that... I think she acted her just fine.
I just watched mary anne and the brunettes after downloading it, and i must give kudos for the costume people for making claudias outfits wacky. The more I look at Jeni Winslow the moer I think she's at least part asian. She seems to have the features...but.. I dunno. I wish there were a way to contact her (there is no trace of her on the internet past the series) and see what her heritage is! I managed to get past her looks as well. Some of Stacey's outfits were cool (I did like the jean jacket, jean skirt she's wearing in the first episode where they're all taking pictures and eating popcorn)... but some where jus fug. I dont know about you guys, but I didn't like the outfit she wore to her first modelling shoot in Stacey's Big Break... I dont know it just seemed... bleh... and I think she could've done SOMETHING better with that monstrosity hair of hers.
the later episodes it's so obvious that they're filmed a couple of years later, because mallorys grown like a FOOT... Loved the new wig on her though.

I know I'm in the minority but I...prefer TV Mary Anne to movie Mary Anne. Not because of looks, as it bugs me that that the actress was taller than Kristy (movie Mary Anne was definitely neat, sweet, and petite), but because the TV actress had more of a natural pleasantness about her, more of a sparkle in her eye. Movie Mary Anne seemed remarkably blank at times; maybe she was trying to appear very sedate and self-conscious, but book Mary Anne isn't always that way around her friends.
I do love, though, how in the movie she wears a yellow-striped shirt in a few scenes, and a blue (I think) dress over it in one scene, since MA's favorite colors in the books are yellow and navy blue. Dunno if that was intentional on the movie's part, probably not.

^ i agree! I like rachael leigh cook ... I dontk now if this makes sense... I felt like she was ACTING shy rather than just BEING shy like tv mary anne? Tv mary anne just seemed...naturally... sweet and shy?
that probably doesn't make any sense at all
