I just watched Stacey's Big Break... its so terrible its hilarious. I never liked TV Stacey... but Im all on board the TV Kristy train. She was Kristy through and through. I think Dawn looked the part, but as soon as she opened her mouth, it was gone. Speaking of nitpicking... Dawn's 'secret passage'? Its a freakin attic!

^I agree, Stacey's Big Break is SO cheesy, it's almost painful to watch! I never liked movie Stacey. She was weird-looking and didn't have the oh-so-sophisticated confidence that TV Stacey has. Dawn's accent was SO awful....I mean, not that it was awful but it ruined the character....she was very obviously not from California!!! I <3 TV Kristy!!! Movie Kristy was wayyyy to whiny.

I finally watched some of the episodes last night on YouTube. Claudia and the Missing Jewels cracked me up so much, during the part where they're following Julie. I loved their big, neon sunglasses! (And the part where the kids have their plants and Jackie is carrying a cactus.) I also think Kristy's actor was right on I liked all of the actors for the most part.

I had forgotten what some of them looked like in the show, so I did a search and found this site (not sure if it's been posted before). Thought you might be interested. community.livejournal.com/howtheylooknow/446100.html(I was shocked to find out that Kristy's 31. Yikes, she's actually older than me!)

^Thanks for the link. I think we had a similar one posted before but maybe with the movie actors instead. I totally forgot what Karen looked like on the show, but the picture of her is perfect.

Yeah, that was the movie actors. I own the movie, but hadn't seen the TV series in so long that I forgot what everyone looked like. I think it's neat that Stacey's a lawyer in NYC now. I used to love her on One Saturday Morning.

(And the part where the kids have their plants and Jackie is carrying a cactus.) Lol, I just watched that for the first time on YouTube. The whole thing cracked me up! ;D This is the first time I've watched any of the BSC TV series and although it was cheesy, I did enjoy it . TV MA disappointed me though because she was too tall and didn't capture much of the character. Claudia doesn't even look Asian or Japanese here and Jessi looked bi-racial, not all black. Stacey, Dawn, Mal and Kristy looked right though. Especially Mal and Kristy; their appearance was spot-on. And I liked the girl that played Karen in The Missing Jewels one. As an LS fan, I was happy to see that she looked exactly like the Karen on the book covers, right down to the pink glasses ;D.

So I'm catching up on the videos, and was just watching Jessi and the Stolen Secrets, when I noticed something funny. In the scene at the library when Jessi and Mal are hiding behind some books, those books looked like BSC books. The quality of the video was a bit blurry, so I wasn't sure. Did anyone else notice that?

I think in the very first BSC video (MA and the Brunettes) there are some BSC books on the shelves the girls are hiding behind as they're spying on Logan and Marcy. I'm not positive; it's been so long since I've watched it. The girls had moved some bigger hardcover books aside to spy, then when they tried to put the books back they knocked a bunch of them over, making a huge racket and getting busted, of course. But I swore on another shelf I saw those familiar pastel-colored covers

I recently borrowed some of the BSC videos from my library so that I could put them on DVD. So with the episodes I already had, I now have five episodes of the series on DVD. Yaaaaaay
Anyway, I think the series is pretty funny. Sometimes Dawn will say things that come out with a strong New Yawk accent, which made me laugh.

I wonder why at first mallory was cute with curls, and then they decided to make her geeky? Also, on the books it always seems like Jessi has darker skin than the girl in the series. That girl looks like she has one white parent, and one black parent. In the books, both of her parents are black. I thought the girl in series did a good job, but she was really light skinned for that character.

^I agree, the Jessi in the TV show was much lighter skinned than the books. Then again, I think Jessi on the covers was even more light skinned than described in the books. Wasn't she described in the books as being really dark? On most covers she looked mediumish.
But I do think the TV actress acted her well.
I'm not too familiar with the movie, but from the movie pics I've seen, I think the Jessi from the movie looks pretty accurate.
