I've never pictured Elizabeth as particularly pretty. I mean I don't picture her as ugly or anything, but just more average I guess. I don't see her as a trophy wife at all - what kind of trophy wife has an ex husband and 4 kids?! lol. Watson seems too nice to be into that anyway, he def seems like a family man

I imagined her as looking like Ann M. Martin did in the earlier back-of-the-book pictures! I have no idea why.

I didn't mean Elizabeth was a total trophy wife or even one at all but just may have been seen that way by others. I mean, a rich older man with a pretty younger wife.

In the new Kristy's Great Idea, in the back of the book, there's a bunch of different pictures from Kristy's photo album I guess. Elizabeth is blond and kind of reminds me of Ann too. I just recently saw the BSC movie for the first time and actually had a hard time liking Brooke Adams as Elizabeth because she didn't fit my own version of her.

I remember in an early book, Kristy didn't come right out and say her mom was in her late thirties, but it was aluded to, like a do the math kind of comment. I always got same impression as dawnomite and sotypical regarding ages. She's 37. And always will be in the magical land of Stoneybrook. I don't really try picturing the characters much, but I guess I'd imagine her as kind of a grown up Kristy. I think if Watson wanted a trophy wife, he'd have gone in a different direction.

I picture Elizabeth as tall and slender with dark blonde hair. Elizabeth from the video series sort of matches my image of her. I've never imagined her as looking anything like Kristy, or any of her kids for that matter.
I really like Elizabeth in Kristy's Great Idea. She comes across as a good mom, very caring, but lacking in time. I like the way she tries to spend a little individual time with each kid every night. I also like the relationship she has with Kristy and wish it had been explored more in later books. Elizabeth seems to forget that she has children as the series progresses. I really don't like her after the wedding.

^ Agree with your liking Elizabeth more early in the series. I recently reread Kristy's Great Idea and liked her and saw a lot more of the "closeness" that everyone always mentions. In later books, Kristy + Bart being the first that comes to mind, she just seems to come in to discipline. I like her really well, though, in the LS books as I think she's great to Watson's kids. I think I picture her like the illustrations in the LS books - not beautiful but not at all unattractive.

I liked her more in Kristy's Great Idea, too. In Kristy + Bart, she seemed to just do things based on reactions - Kristy's making-out, a big no-no, so send her to her room for a weekend. But in Kristy's Great Idea, she seemed to take more time in being more understanding.

I agree in liking Elizabeth best in the earliest books.

I picture Elizabeth as tall and slender with dark blonde hair. That's how I've always pictured her as well. Brooke Adams in the movie didn't fit my image of her at all. (And neither did Watson, for that matter - he's balding in the books, and movie Watson has a considerable amount of hair )

I didn't mean Elizabeth was a total trophy wife or even one at all but just may have been seen that way by others. I mean, a rich older man with a pretty younger wife. That's how I always thought about Watson and Lisa. I picture Lisa as being like, 28 or 29 and Watson in his mid-40s. And Elizabeth.. I don't picture her as being particularly attractive, just a regular mid-30s woman. Never pictured her with dark blonde hair like a lot of the people in this thread, either. I just picture all of the Thomases with brown hair.

I really liked it how Elizabeth arranges for Ms. Colman’s class to be in the gum commercial in Karen’s Big Job. I’ve liked Elizabeth a lot in all of the other LS books that I’ve read lately, too. In fact, I think my opinion of her is really becoming better with each book I read. The only ones I really don’t like her in are Mind your Own Business Kristy, Kristy’s Book, and Kristy + Bart. I think she’s so good to Karen and Andrew in the LS books, especially.

Elizabeth in Karen's Stepmother is almost exactly how I've always pictured her.

^ Looks or personality wise? I love Elizabeth in Karen's Worst Day. Not sure why my impressions of her were so negative when I wrote the first posts in this thread. I like her more and more now.
