Yeah, when I read the BSC,I feel like watching a tv show too. I can imagine them in BSC meetings in the carnival, sitting for their charges, making cookies, making fliers,etc.,etc.. I guess that's why I love reading. When I read,I'm like watching TV.

Over a year ago, I shared a house with my boyfriend and 2 roommates. One of the roommates was in his 50's, and was a commuter. He lived 2 hours away with his family, and during the week, would rent a room and go to work. Believe it or not, this is very common for my area (I could never do it, though!). Anyway, one night, his wife and 2 kids came down to go out to dinner with him. After they had dinner, they came back to the house for awhile. His youngest was a 9 year old girl. Anyway, she noticed my bookcase in the dining room, and of course, a few rows of BSC books. She got all excited and told her dad about which books she had read and which ones she hadn't. He asked if I minded if she looked at my books while they were there. I was happy to let her look through my collection! She seemed pretty excited about it, too. Anyway, this was a rare case -- I haven't seen any other kids reading the BSC.

^ That would make me happy. ;D I did find one little girl who really liked them even before I told her about them. I gave her all of my duplicates. ;D

I tried to get my sister to read them, but she's not really interested. Well, she knows all about them, from what I've told her ;D and also, she's been forced to play the BSC game and watch the BSC movie and also a couple tv show episodes, one downloaded, one purchased on videotape (forced by me, of course! lol) and while she did like the shows and movie, and wants to watch more episodes (which made me smile she's not really interested in reading the books. She's not much of a reader, anyway. Well, she does like to read, but she's not like how I was at her age (12) - constantly with my nose in a book ;D Well, I tried to get her to read them before she was 12... a few years, now, but she's never really. I think she might have read a couple LS.. not sure. But at any rate, they certainly didn't stick with her

Nope, I don't think they are as popular as they used to be. If that were so, they would continue making them in print and we would see a whole lot of them in the library. Nowadays, I go to the library and I can't find ONE bsc book.

The last library sale I went to they were discarding every little girl series you could think of. They are a thing of the past, I guess.

That's awful . I'm glad we all grew up in the time of real little girl series . My library still has all the BSC books that I checked out as a kid on their shelves. I remember getting chocolate sauce from my ice cream onto one of the LS books I checked out once, on one of the pages and when I look through it now when I go, the sauce stain is still there. Brings back happy kid memories when I always had those books with me, even to eat. They were my security blankets .

Hehe, that's too funny Andrea! I think remaking the BSc is a possibility, after all, they did remake SVH. However, we just may not like it

I don't think the SVH remake was particularly successful--aren't they not releasing any more?

The last library sale I went to they were discarding every little girl series you could think of. They are a thing of the past, I guess. I've seen this happening too . My library got rid of basically all the children's fiction except classics and stuff that was published recently. At least I was able to buy all my favourites that they didn't want anymore.

My library still carries BSC books. They're, oddly enough, located in the teen section! I worked at a middle school a couple of years ago and the school library had some BSC books. I would totally read them while I was working.

The library here has a number of them, but for some reason there aren't any of the earlier books.

The last library I worked in had some of them (mostly the later books in the series), but the library I work at now doesn't have them at all anymore. I was talking to my coworker about the series and she mentioned that she'd weeded them out last year. I was all "But...but..how could you get rid of the BABY-SITTERS CLUB!!?" She laughed and said "It was one of the highlights of my career!" (She was only kidding, though.)
The funny thing is that in the past month I have had more than one little girl ask for both BSC and LS. I know if it had been up to me, I wouldn't have gotten rid of them.

^I really think that kids could totally get into them today. My little brother's current obsession is Goosebumps.
