My library still has their BSC books which makes me happy, even though I have almost all of them, it makes me happy to see all the books I used to check out, piles at a time.

My library has two little sister books and no bsc books. Boo! I'm sure that kids today would love the bsc.

My library still has a decent chunk of the series, especially mysteries and Super Specials. They only weed things out if they don't circulate for a certain number of months, so people must still be taking them out (besides me ).

My library didn't have a limit. Their attitude was why should things sit on the shelves when someone wants to check them out.

That's pretty good. I know sometimes the limits can be frustrating to homeschooling families, because it can be a one-size fits-all limit. Twenty items might be a reasonable limit if you have two or three people on a card, but if the family card accounts for a family with several children that can mean a lot fewer items for each person. And if you're taking out material to use for schooling as well as enjoyment, it just gets harder.

I had another young girl come to my library asking for BSC. She wanted the graphic novels (we don't have the regular series on the shelves anymore - my colleague got rid of them a few years back. BOO). So anyway, we own all 4 of the GNs, she wanted 2, 3, and 4, and they were all checked out. (Yay that kids are checking them out!) I helped her get on the wait list for them, and she came back in the very next day asking if I remembered her, and were the books in yet? They weren't back yet, though. I also chatted with her a bit and told her how big a fan I was of BSC, that I still had all my old books at home, still read them, etc. She thought that was super cool and said she's read a lot of the non-GN BSC books, too. I love when stuff like that happens at work.

My youngest sister, who is now 11, just started reading my old BSC books! She's currently working on "Dawn on the Coast", and she stops every few pages to discuss it with me I actually started reading the books when I was 8...which would have been about 1998...I got a big box of them from my cousin who's 10 years older. Well now my sister came across the box in the basement and decided she was going to read them all. My 7 year old cousin just started reading one of the Little Sister books, and I'm like...yay! My cousin was surprised when I knew what happened in the book.

Our library has quite a few, as well as Mystery, LS, and FF. But I've pretty much read them all already.

^I really think that kids could totally get into them today. My little brother's current obsession is Goosebumps. I agree with this ;D. Speaking of Goosebumps, I went to Borders last week and went wandering around the kids section and found a whole bunch of them on the shelves. Not only that, but I saw tons of Boxcar Children books, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, and the various Judy Blume books (with updated covers but the same stories ;D). While I'm glad to see all of these on the shelves, why there is no BSC, LS, or SV on the shelves when they were all published and popular around the same time is extrememly sad and puzzling to me. Those series would fit perfectly there in that section with the rest of those books and a lot of young kids would get into them if they were only out there for the public to see .

Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys have had so many spinoffs from the original series and it seems like they're going to go on forever. I wish that the BSC books were still in print. It would be cool if they went back in print for the series' 25th anniversary or something.
