Tonight at work a little girl asked to put a hold on BSC #33 because our library branch doesn't have that one. So my vast accumulation of BSC knowledge managed to save me like ten seconds, because instead of having to Google to find the title of #33, I just automatically placed a hold on Claudia and the Great Search.

I tried looking for some BSC books at my local library. I was super excited because a ton of them were listed in the catalog but when I went to the section they were supposed to be in, the section didn't exist! Our library recently moved into a brand new building, so I think they got rid of a lot of old stuff, including books. ETA: I just realized that this thread is about kids reading bsc books, and I forgot to add that I was sad that kids in my town can't enjoy them now. But on the bright side, a middle school I used to work at carried almost all the books!

^ I agree ;D. Sorry about the BSC books not being at your library anymore Starlett . I would've been sad too if that happened in my library.

There are some in the library here./ I have no idea how often they're checked out these days.

Mine got rid of everything except for their Friends Forever books. I don't know how interesting those would be on their own if you haven't read the real BSC books first.

Wow, that sure sucks about not having the BSC books and all. I have a penpal all the way from Tunisia and she doesn't have access to the BSC books at their local library. She has to have them imported from neighbouring france. Talk about a hassle!!!

And I don't understand why they chose to keep their Friends Forever books. I too don't understand how interesting those would be on their own, since you do have to read the regular BSC books first to know everyone's backstory. Btw, I never really got into Friends Forever. I read a couple (one I particularly remember reading was the one where Stacey and Claud were fighting over a boy) but they just never held my interest and I hated that there was no original BSC charm in them. I have no clue to this day why they were even written (although I've always wanted to read the graduation book just so I could have proof that they, you know, actually graduated middle school ;D), unless it was to keep readers of the BSC still interested in the series as they grew up. There seemed to be more drama in the FF books so maybe they were catering to older kids? Idk, that is just something I'll never know.

^It sucks for other people that my library tossed out all their BSC books, but it happens to be how I got a large chunk of the higher number books and mysteries. I pounced on those suckers the second I saw them at their book sale. ;D

I don't know, I think FF could be interesting as a stand-alone series to those who just wanted to read about boys and friends and school, not baby-sitting. You don't have to know the long history of the BSC to "get" the characters since they're written pretty generically.

I have to agree with booboobrewer on the point about FF. I read all the book but it was just like reading most teen romances and high school life and don't get me wrong, it wasn't sucky or anything; it just wasn't the BSC that I wanted.

I don't think, any of bookstores, in my town carries them anymore. I haven't been to bookstore like ages. I was checking libraries online catalog. They only have few books here, to rent. Last year, I went to so many garage sales & huge walk sale. Anytime, i look for books. I saw the babysitters club. I was like, nah I already read them. So, I just skipped them & look for other books to read. This time, when I go garage sale or book fair. I'll be looking or BSC & LS. Buy them.
Theirs an antique store. We love go to. They have children book section. I just glance real quick. I'm gonna check the children's section & see, if theirs any BSC & LS books.

At the local library were I live, I think that the only BSC books that I saw are the Friends Forever. There weren't many BSC books in the library. So I don't think many kids are reading BSC books.

I went to the library yesterday and found like 12 classic BSCs! So happy.
