After reading this I realized that every Krushers book is exactly the same. The team is terrible, everyone's down on themselves, then they miraculously beat the Bashers. Yay! Except not. They're really boring books.
I wonder why Watson didn't sponsor the team. It seems like something he'd do.
This is the first book that I recall actually seeing any Kelsey Middle School students. I thought that was a phantom school.

I was bored with this book and forgot the whole plot, it was around the time I lost interest anyways, but I liked Welcome the BSC Abby a lot.

Hahaha, it's so true! Except for Sea City, Here We Come! -- they do get their asses handed to them in that one.

This one reminds me of the second Mighty Ducks movie where they become the USA Ducks and Charlie freaks out over the new uniforms. Then they are totally losing the championship game until they change into their old uniforms halfway through the game and end up beating the big, strong, evil Iceland team.

^Me too. I own all three on dvd. ;D The way they started out sucking in every movie and then unifying to beat the bigger, better team at the end reminds me of the Krushers. I don't think Kristy would be too classy to sing "We Are the Champions" after a win, either. After the "2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate? The Bashers!" cheer, of course.

It'd be about a year since I've read this one, but I've read it soo many times that I could practically recite it.
Unfortunately, Dawn & Too many sitter's is the only book written after this one I own so all my opinions of Abby are based mostly on how she is in this one. She comes across to me pretty much the way every one else has said. I also much prefer Anna and would have been much happier if she had joined the bsc and Abby just helped out Kristy with the Krushers.
Mr Davis is so annoying. Seriously, it's a team of young children who aren't even in a league! I've never heard of any sponsor trying to take over a whole team and basically taking over the role as coach. I'm glad Kristy finally tells him where to go but wish it happened a lot earlier on in the book.
Books that have every sitting job with the same child / family irritate me to no end and this one is no exception. Dru seems to be pretty unfriendly and a little rude, I guess she her parents were freshly seperated and she was just discarded on to her grandmother who is obviously isn't close to and is known to local children as "Morbidda Destiny".
That's another thing, it didn't really sit with me why she had to stay with Mrs Porter. Her mother was trying to find another house, so? How does that equal needing someone else to look after her?

I don't understand why Kristy's family let the Stevensons' spend the night. I mean even though they are their new neighbor's they are still complete strangers. It just seemed unrealistc to me.

ITA that it was weird how the Stevenson's spent the night just like that. Very nice of the Brewers just odd. Also, their mansion, was said to have 9 bedrooms (in some books) which did equal one for each of them. But in #81, it also had a few guest rooms. I am guessing these were all on either the first or second floors. However, and this always interested me, there was the entire third floor. The same third floor where "Ben Brewer's bedroom" supposedly was! Because of that, and the fact that this was supposed to be a very fancy mansion, I'd gather there were multiple bedrooms and bathrooms on the third floor as well! The fourth was said to a bunch of rooms that had been made into an attic. Conceivably if they had been cleaned out/aired out or whatever, the 4th floor would have had more living spaces as well. HUGE house. I know I'm in the minority, but I loved the Krushers. As a kid I'd have loved to have joined their team and maybe have grown into helping Kristy run it. That said, this particular Krusher book was utterly boring. The Mr. Davis plot was unrealistic. Sparklymouse, Watson should have sponsored the team. Though the fact that he and no one else did, endeared the Krushers to me more. They truly were a group of kids out to have fun by playing the game. It generally was not focused on being super competitive. I also agree with Linny being angry at Kristy for not having asked them (the kids') if they were okay with the change. At the very least I found it hard to believe that it didn't occur to Kristy to ask Mr. David upfront just how his company was going to represent the Krushers aside from all the new equipment. That probably would have led to an admittance of the new uniforms. Abby. She is a semi sore subject for me. I completely disagree that she= a carbon copy of Kristy. Yes, Kristy could be domineering and brash. We know she was very athletic and into sports. However, unlike, Abby, those characteristics did not=Kristy. Maybe I'm just too much a Kristy fan, but I still hold onto the beliefs that at heart Kristy had a great heart and in her own way cared more about the BSC charges and kids in general than any other member. I also think Kristy truly did want the best for them but lol if her name happened to also be on the unforms, in this case, all the better. 95+% of Kristy was genuine. The rest like most all real people had some less than desirable qualities at times. Abby, annoyed me to all heck. I wish Shannon had simply replaced Dawn. Dawn may have not been very polite or plain considerate/nice at times about forcing her opinions onto others along with (well lol I won't get into that again) her eating habits. OT in a way, it finally got through to me in re-reading #88. That Dawn is not okay with eating red meat. She (we I already knew this, of course) is fine with eating other forms. Back to "red meat" (Cattle) she happily wears leather! I guess it's okay to kill a cow for clothing or handbags but not for food??? I credit Abby for never thinking that way at least. Sorry, I know that was off topic. Back to Abby, what truly made me dislike her was that she made fun of others directly at their expense for the so-called entertainment of others. That is never okay with me. Stacey and I believe once Logan, when he said something about the wacky Arnold twins, came close to doing so when they'd impersonate Elmer Fudd--a character with a speech impediment. LOL! I just had a humrously strange thought....Abby in a way the exaggerated worst parts of Kristy while Anna was the better parts of Mary Anne? Does that make any sense? That's why Kristy immediately related to Anna. For 7 years she had missed her bff with MA. (Abby came right before the beginning of the 8th year of 8th grade). Just a thought as I finally log off of here for now.

ITA that mr davis was way out of line talking to the krushers like that. could you imagine how crushing it would be if he talked that way to gabbie, or jamie?
however, i disagree with everyone who said abby was being rude. if anything, abby was dealing with the stress of moving, and KRISTY was being rude. kristy has a habit of being rude to newcomers -- she couldn't stand dawn, made that awful test for mallory, etc.

^ I thought the way Mr. Davis spoke to the Krushers was out of line as well and I don't think that Abby was being rude to him, either. I'm glad that Abby stood up to him about the way he acted.

I really liked the Mighty Ducks movies, too. This calls for renting them from Netflix! Just to clarify, I agree with you Anzuhana, neither Abby nor Kristy were rude to Mr. Davis, imo either. I think they and the kids put up with him for way too long!
