Does anyone think Abby was made zany so Lerangis could have fun writing her? Haha. I definitely would have preferred to read about music rather than soccer, but I do like Abby's snarky self.

I don't like much of anything about Abby (as most of you already know). I would have much preferred if Anna (or better Shannon) had been made a member. I still, after all these many years and posts, hate the comparisons between Kristy and Abby. To me, Kristy had a good heart and truly cared about those closest to her. Yes, she was way too bossy at times and liked to run off at the mouth. But, usually, both of those things were based in well-meaning. Not saying it was right because it wasn't just that (to me) that's a difference than Abby's jokes/caricatures.

This book did nothing for me or my BSC hoarding in those days

Abby also sounds like the BSC's case of Cousin Oliver Syndrome: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CousinOliverThe wacky, wisecracking character thrown in to breathe life into a series. I didn't mind Abby, but looking back, I could see that applying here.

^ i'm sure that was a huge reason in introducing abby, but i bet another part was them just really needing to resolve the whole issue of where dawn was going to live. they couldn't have any more california storylines without dawn moving away, and dawn couldn't move unless they found a replacement.
as far as people thinking abby is too much like kristy and that they should have gone with anna, honestly, i know i would be rolling my eyes if the girl they picked as her replacement just HAPPENED to be completely unique and unlike every other member. so i don't mind that they chose abby. i would have liked if anna were an associate, but in real life people don't monopolize personality traits.

^ Yeah, Abby does have her differences too. And in reality, sometimes two people are a lot alike. There's nothing wrong with that.

Anna and Shannon seemed to be connecting in Welcome to the BSC Abby when making those music and art buttons, did they continue that in later books? I can't recall

^Unfortunately, not at all. There was one or two mentions that the two of them were friends/had things in common but never any scenes showing it. The only friend we ever "saw" of Anna's was Corley in "Abby in Wonderland." Corley and Anna were friends on Long Island.

Abby thinks she's a diva.
I would think all 4 neighbors hung out often, but I guess not.

I'm reading this one now. In the Chapter 2 description of Stacey, Kristy's kind of bitchy about her, and states that she "had her thrown out" of the BSC. Didn't Stacey say she quit first, and then Kristy shot back with "You CAN'T quit....because you're fired!" Anyway, then Kristy says that so far Stacey is "behaving herself" since being allowed back into the club.
I really don't like how Kristy's character became so controlling as the series went on, and hate how the other girls seemed to walk on eggshells for fear of saying anything "wrong." At the end of Chapter 2, Mallory says there's no law against turning down a job or two, and is rewarded with a death glare from Kristy, which then makes Mal squeak, "Oops. Maybe there is."

Yes, that's pretty much what happened in Stacey vs. the BSC. Stacey quit first.

Sometimes people quit because they know they're going to be fired.

Well, then maybe Stacey wanted to be gone from the club by her own terms than someone else's, even if it's by a few seconds.

Finished this book a little while ago; didn't like it very much. I was bored by the Druscilla subplot, annoyed at Abby's constant allergy-speak, and bored by the main plot. Of course the Krushers ended up winning their World Series - it always works out that way!
